I don't think it has, it's just the way people interpreted what was said. (There's that great Idol-related word - interpreted! lol) Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though.

Did anyone tape flipside or Michael on ZM last night? I don't think anyone has stated it's an original but it was posed that the song was given to Michael much in the same manner as They Can't Take That Away was given to Ben.

One of those 2 interviews has Michael talking about it. It may have been Flipside actually.

Yeah The Critic - they spoke to Michael on Energy FM last night and when I think about it he just said who wrote it and that it was offered to him.

No talk of original or not?

They Can't Take That Away had been written and ready back in January, before the show even started.

It is abit different at the end with the piano and the way he fades out, although I didn't like it, thats the only bit.

A: Question, why didn't you choose a New Zealand song first?
M: Um, it's not that I didn't choose a New Zealand song, I wanted to choose a song that we.. that we are not doing covers anymore, you know. They are all going to be originals. This song has never been released before. Because it was written by a guy in America doesn't mean it is an American song. Is was written by this guy and he offered it to me to release and so..
A: Have you sent him the song, are you happy?
M: Yeah, I think we sent it to him the other day..
A: And you haven't heard back yet?
M: No well, its kind of interesting because we changed the song round quite a bit but I'm sure he'll love it. He's a good dude, I've talked to him quite a few times.

www.idolblog.com just got a big plug on the radio from Classic Hits 97.4FM. They talked about the Michael Murphy controversy and played the part of Michael's interview that I transcribed for you. They also played both versions of the song!

A caller has just phoned up to find out about the site - another plug for idolblog and how good it is. Then they had the cheek to talk about the transcript because it included all the ums and ers!! btw Jacque Tucker I'm working on your gobblygook!

I haven't even heard the original version. My computer doesn't have speakers. I'm not even sure if it has a sound card. I'm a bit curious but I'd much rather listen to Michael anyway!

Vallejo: Starshone prances around her room playing really bad air guitar.
Michael Murphy on the radio: Starshone almost swoons, recovers from swooning, and proceeds to prance around her room singing along/harmonizing as loudly as possible AND playing really bad air guitar.

i thought i only liked michael's version better cos i was being bias, but now i have both versions on the computer and after listening to the chorus of each version one after the other i know for sure that i like mikey's voice is so much better on that song
cos before now i hadnt listened to them straight after each other, and it makes it so obvious which one sounds best.

ok so i love michael.. and ilove his version 2.. and ive heard the toher 1.. and this 1 sounds waay better... and i think this song kinda suits michael 2.. and his 'style" etc..

The problem with So Damn Beautiful is that it's a lame track.
Once again the idols have been zonked with songs from the trashcan.
You can argue that it was nominated for a grammy but, that doesn't really mean much considering the many meaningless categories available, 105 to be exact, including nods to Best Polka Album, Best Boxed Set, Best Spoken Word....the list goes on.

But wait! It's not even the real Grammys, but the Latin Grammys!

Fact is, it's an extremely average song, but I will give Michael credit for singing it well.
A lot of energy and nice backing vocals.
His album could be a good one.

I believe that you (idolblog) should just leave it out aye! It was never released as a single by the other band it was only on their album to fill space and it has never before made an appearance in New Zealand before and u guys are the only ones that are making a big deal about it!!1
