Omigod, if I see the single, Im totally getting it!
Does anyone know for sure if the lead singer is gay, cos if not, he does a great job of portraying it!

The Scissor Sisters, nearly as good as Robin.

I DISLIKE ROBIN BUT HE'S BETTER THAN THE SCISSOR SISTERS

LexingtonSteel 17 July, 2004 - 1:43pm

Robin is not better than him! Firstly where is Robin's music video that is beamed all over the world? He didn't even make the idolise tour.

Robin only wishes he could be his boyfriend.

Scissor Sisters should be scissored for butchering Comfortably Numb.

TotallyGaia 20 July, 2004 - 1:10pm
Spice Up My Life!

They didn't 'butcher' it, as you so nicely put it, they modernized it!
Pink Floyd should be honoured to have their song covered, to have it modernized, to have new life breathed into it. It's what keeps old songs new. If not for the Scissor Sisters, that song would have remained in its coffin for eternity.

New life.....
OK whatever you say.

Maybe this is just another "lyric" issue

.....There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship’s smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can’t hear what you’re sayin’.
When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse,
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.....

Yeah let's dance!

Whatever.

rose_fleur 21 July, 2004 - 3:57pm

hmm check out the lead singers tight red pants on totps saturday haha

Phantomb, is there a point that you are trying to make? Because I can't find it.
New nife isn't necessarily energetic, it's just prolonged existance.

Do you read lyrics?
Or you one of the "as long as it has a good beat" people.
Singing these words uptempo is contrary to what the lyrics have to say.

Could you imagine Eric Clapton singing "Tears in Heaven" uptempo?

rose_fleur 22 July, 2004 - 7:35pm

hmm check out the lead singers tight red pants on totps saturday haha

hehe opps i meant last sat lol those pants were way too tight yukness lol

TotallyGaia 28 July, 2004 - 12:34pm
Spice Up My Life!

Of course I read the lyrics, but the lyrics aren't the ONLY part of the song that contributes to the overall quality.
If someone could remake Tears in Heaven uptempo, clicks for them. It doesn't really bother me though, as I detest that song with a passion.

I recently heard their version of Comfortably Numb.
What an absolute disgrace. It's nothing more than a cheap pisstake at the original.

That is a bunch of bull. Pink Floyd dont need their songs modernized and they dont need "new life" breathed into it. SS cant hold a candle up to pink floyd.

Nana-Phoenix 31 July, 2004 - 9:30pm

Um..i dont really like them but the song take your mama was so funny.

Oh, of course, they would prefer their song to go the song graveyard. Sure. Cos that's where it was heading! If it wasn't for the Scissor Sisters, the song would be dead. D-E-A-D. Got that?

Continuing this argument is proving my point, if the Scissor Sisters hadn't re-made the song, I would never have heard of it, and this conversation wouldn't be happening.

Nutty 1 August, 2004 - 3:49am

Their 1st single is coolies.

Oh Gaia gaia gaia.
You couldn't be more wrong.

Comfortably Numb is one of the all-time great Pink Floyd songs, a flagship of their career.

It appeared on Pink Floyd's album "The Wall", which to date, has sold 22m worldwide.
The accompanying live show is considered one of the most amazing ever produced.

It was last released as part of "Echoes - The Best of Pink Floyd" which went 3 times platinum.

How about live performances?
Roger Waters performed "The Wall" concert in Berlin in 1990 to celebrate the fall of the Berlin Wall.
In front of 190,000 people.

He also used Comfortably Numb as his final encore in his World Tour from 1999 - 2002 which played 98 shows in USA, South America, Asia, Australia, Europe and Britain.

No, the Scissor Sisters are merely a pimple on the hairy butt of Pink Floyd.

Wow phantomb, all those *amazing* facts, and yet I had never heard of it until I listened to the Scissior Sisters' album.

Or maybe you're just too young to appreciate great music.
Actually - no 'maybe' about that. Thinking this version of Comfortably Numb is better than the original only proves how tone deaf you are..

What a dumb question...
There's the Eagles, Pink Floyd, Led Zepellyn...
What do you take me for? An idiot?
Only good music survives through the ages, which is why I hadn't heard of the song.
