This album is AMAZING.
I LOVE it all.
I would review it but its to hard. Its just all fantastic. BUY IT.
I LOVE this album more than What To Do With Daylight
But they're completely different so they're incomparable.
More laid back/slower than the first album,
but still has a few 'faster' moments on the album.
The FANTASTIC Dechipering Me, is NOT the best track on the album.
But its one of them.
The lyrics are amazing.
My favourite tracks are:
- Shadowfeet
- Love, Where Is Your Fire?
- Albertine
- C.S Lewis Song
- Seeds
-Hosea's Wife
But I love EVERY track.
I dont think there are as many radio friendly songs on this album
But there are about 4 songs that I think will be hits.
In conclusion, its fricken awesome.
Whoever has the album / heard Albertine. Please help me with the lyrics- this is what I've got (missing some parts) I think the rest is right.
I am sitting still
I think of angelique
her mothers voice over me
and the bullets in the wall where fell silence (?)
(????)
I think of albertine
there in her eyes what i dont see
with my eyes oh oh
Rwanda, now that i have seen
I am responsible
faith without deeds is dead
now that i have held you
In my own arms
I can not let go till you are
(?)I am on a plane
across a distant sea
but i carry you and me
in the dust on the dust on the dust on the dust on the dust on my feet
Rwanda, now that i have seen
I am responsible
faith without deeds is dead
now that i have held you
in my own arms
I can not let go till you are
I will tell the world
I will tell them where I've been
I will keep my word
I will tell them Albertine
Rwanda, now that i have seen
I am responsible
faith without deeds is dead
now that i have held you
in my own arms
I can not let go till you are
When I am on a stage
A thousand eyes on me
I will tell them Albertine
I will tell them Albertine
I just caught her new clip on Juice. It's... odd. lol I dunno, I just never pictured her walking around the streets of Tokyo (I think it's Tokyo!? lol) for it... But she still looks hot in her orange dress and umbrella.
Brooke Fraser is so awesome.
I loved Arithmetic and Without You and now I love Deciphering Me. Her lyrics are always so great and she shows off her voice so much more in Deciphering Me!
Hey it came out of her mouth, not mine... lol I guess it'll be uploaded sometime today or been taken down. But you should hear it soon because I wouldnt be surprised if Radio stations have already thrown it on a repetitive rotation...
Brooke Fraser Checks In From Recording Album #2 In LA
It's no easy feat setting about recording the follow-up to the biggest album of the year in your homeland, but Kiwi singer/songwriter Brooke Fraser says she's ecstatic about how well album #2 is shaping up. Currently holed up in studio in North Hollywood, LA, Brooke checked in this week and said that she's got her "dream-team" of musos and producers on board and that recording is already ahead of schedule.
Currently in LA recording the follow-up to her runaway NZ smash #1 debut album 'What To Do With Daylight' (the biggest album of 2004 in NZ), Brooke Fraser checked in this week with an update from the studio, saying that recording is already ahead of schedule and that she's ecstatic with how the new songs are shaping up.
"I'm having the most amazing time over here in North Hollywood... we are ahead of schedule and I should probably play down my excitement a bit."
"This album has been a long time coming. I've grown so much since 'What to Do With Daylight' and I think this new collection of songs show that. Not by a deliberate effort to do so on my part, but because there has been a lot of rugged, painful, beautiful life that's been lived over the past few years and these songs are the product and consequence of that.
"The subject themes have changed as I have... there are songs about the generations, hope, vulnerability, compassion, doubt, God, love, timing. I am working with a dream album team, many of whom have now become dear friends, and there is a real sense of family and community around this project."
Brooke's "dream-team" is spearheaded by producers Marshall Altman (Shawn Mullins) and Joe Zook (Rufus Wainwright, Jewel) and includes an amazing line-up of muso's with Kristopher Pooley (keys - Janes Addiction, Gwen Stefani), David Levita (guitars - Alanis Morrisette), Michael Chaves (guitars - John Mayer, Sarah McLachlan), Sean Hurley (bass - Vertical Horizon) and Aaron Sterling (drums - Liz Phair)
It seems like the guys are equally impressed with Brooke too. Says Altman on his MySpace page: "She is such a compelling artist/writer/singer. Amazing voice. Songs that reach inside of you and change the way you see the world. Recorded the tracks with what could possibly be one of the best bands in the entire world. Not kidding at all."
Thanks so much for posting that ... I'm looking forward to it already!!! :) I don't suppose there's any indication of when we'll see it in stores, is there?!!
From what I've read on a few different sites - The album will be out by the end of the year, though it doesn't sound like there is a definite release date.
I bought the new album, loved her last album.
This one is so boring compared. It's still a great album but too many of the songs sound the same.
I'm loving the new album so much!!!
SHADOWFEET is the best song ever
So cool. I like the whole album though I think
Walking, stumbling on these shadowfeet, toward home a land that I have never seen...
Santa got me her album for Christmas
YAY!
SAME AND I LOVE IT!
WE'RE TRIPLETS! OMG I LOVE SANTA.
ME TOO! Well. Grandparents did
Same thing XD hehe.
LOL! wooo *twins*
Brooke's number ONE!!!!
Oh, the guys on More FM Wellington talked briefly to Brooke on the phone this morning, and she said she'll be touring in late March/April next year!
i so want to go and see her in concert
The best thing about Brroke Fraser is her intelligent lyrics, which makes her songs so different from the mindless crap that's out there
True, true...
I bought it today, too. Read the lyrics but haven't played it yet.
Amazing lady.
If you like her lyrics you should get some Joni Mitchell.
I like her 'Hejira' album the best. (most ppl say Blue is best though)
This album is AMAZING.
I LOVE it all.
