Already today heard it twice on More FM Manawatu!:) Started with a phone chat with Matt. He was introduced as the winner who weighs 132 kg! The announcement on the show played, and there was quite a long chat with him.
Included with him being asked if he though he would win and he said No. Then said when he won the Raro trip, thought it was being given to him as a consolation prize. He plans to use the money as a deposit on a house for security for him and his partner and son.
It seemed like he spent the 3 hours sleep he got last night, dreaming about where he could park his new car.
He was asked if a tour was coming up. He said nothing's confirmed, but he's looking forward to one as he'd like to get round NZ to see the country.
He was so glad he made that cheesy speech at the beginning, that helped him stay in.
He entered the first year when Ben Lummis won, but never got past the first audition.
'Hold Out' was then played.
After it the DJs seemed to like it and said they'd be playing that version more in the future, saying not like Rositas - then laughed!
The interview with Matt was played twice yesterday morning and again just after 6.00 pm. The DJ then said Matts song has had more airplay already than Rosita's has had in all the time since she won. I heard the song twice yesterday.
Thanks for that Loyal. My radio was on Talkback this morning and they had people ringing and talking about NZ Idol. One lady rang up and said she only watched the Grand Final she lives in Howick, Auckland and said she liked the guy singing he was very professional on stage and so she voted for him.
