I think the song is okay not all that great, but then again the NZ idol single songs aren't that great anyways. However, in saying that i do believe that Matt sings the song better than Indira. Indira doesn't suit singing pop songs, and she really didn't sing it as good as Matt.
Most winners songs seems to be much the same - whatever country!
The one that was different and memorable - and actually did very well - was 'They can't take that away'!
A lot of the success of that was because of the way it was sung though.
i really like this song but matt did an awful job of it but indira did it really well. its the best single out of the nz idolz! i think mattz useless and didn dezerve tah win
I thought it was ok as a throwaway chorus song...problem is there's absolutely nothing in the verses.

It's good people are going in asking even before it's on display. Shows people do support the Idols and want their music!

When are they going to release the single? I'm really surprised that they didn't release the single today. Imagine if they release the single after a month or so. By then, everyone would've forgotten Matt.
It wasn't that bad. A lot rockier than Ben's or Rosita's disgusting trashy pieces of crap they had the gall to call 'songs'. But the single should've been the Llama Song. It's a song everyone can sing along to, with a catchy hook, memorable lyrics and an infectious beat.
I vote 'Badger Mushroom' as an Idol single.
But at least the words to Ben's and Rosita's singles actually MEANT something ... so far, from what various people have been able to pick up from the couple of times we've heard it, Hold Out doesn't really have much depth to it! :|
Yes well considering the state that James Reid was in when he wrote it and he hadn't finished writing it when Matt and Indira turned up to record it, and was asking them to add lyrics, no wonder it doesn't have depth.

Thought 'what a nothing song that is' when Indira sung it. Didn't like her version of it at all.
Though still thought it was a 'nothing song', Matt made it a lot more interesting to listen to.
Not very long and very repetitive as well as being about nothing in particular - well, as far as I could make out.
Heard it twice on the radio this morning :) Matt may just have the voice that will make it take off. The DJ's preferred it to Rosita's song and said they'll be playing it more in the future!
Whereas I only ever heard them play Rosita once, then they said they'd had to, and like that was going to be it.
I hope I don't get stick for this, but I actually found myself singing along second time round lol :$

I was a bit lost with that song too. :( The other two, Ben's and Rosita's, at least made sense, but this one, one is left wondering, 'What comes next'.
That quite aside though, who thinks that Matt will be able to up the NZ Idol status from the last two years worth of our Music Industry standards, if they have standards at all, that is, and one wonders?

I liked Matt's version of the new single it flowed better seemed a bit faster than when Indira sang it. When Indira sang the song I didn't like it, it was too slow, but when Matt sang it it just sounded right.
