Idolblog: Idolblog Nostalgia

Submitted by spazz on 25 October, 2006 - 12:55am.

With another season of Idol almost over, and in preparation for the plethora of leaving threads soon to plague the forums, I thought we could all sit back over a quiet one and reflect on the last year (or three) on Idolblog.

  • Favourite memories?
  • Least favourite memories?
  • Members you miss and wish were still a part of the site?
  • Members you don't miss and are glad are gone?
  • Biggest scandal of the last year (or three?)

Or any other random titbits you feel like sharing as we sigh and gaze dreamily out the window, thinking about the long-lost Speka?

*is a can opener*

This thread makes me sad Sad

I miss so much! The controversial threads that spazz would start LOL! (that's a hint, buddy), Nelliebombs (though in all honesty, I much prefer the '06 Nellie), penname, phokkie, bernadette, Swayer, Speka, ruffryder... Idolblog during the first Idol show....

Oooh Speka! He hasn't fallen off the earth and can sometimes be found playing on TM: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Community/MessageBoard/Messages.aspx?id=13373697&threadid=13373697

And the time where I posted a pic of him in the gallery and Admin started a thread asking if it really was him. I have never laughed so hard over a thread before - some of the posts had me crying!

I even miss the Michaelboppers. Nothing has ever come close to that weird nation of obsessed teenage girls. I was hated by the majority of them and it was always great when they would join forces and call me names LOL!

cantdecide when she was in txtspk mode LOL! I'm pretty sure I used to give her constant grief...

*sigh*

The problem is, there's no one to stir the proverbial pot any more Sad

Chevy's gone soft, mumsgirl is no longer with us, Ubi is just lame, I mean hell - what's the point in starting a controversial thread if there's no one to get furious with? We'd all just agree with each other and it'd be over just like that LOL!!

Bring back mumsgirl/Liz Shaw/ILD/OldschoolChevy/Panasonic et al!

Oh my goodness the debates about snail trails and bits of Michael that were glimpsed at Idolised were hilarious................ I was trying to find a thread where Loyal was cracking me up when I came across it Eye-wink

Nothing here has ever come close to those Michael boppers!  What is it about Michael that inspired all those fans of his to be so besotted!Smiling They popped up everywhere - whatever the topic you were talking about, someone would come along and rave about Mikey!  Some people like Alaina are excluded here - she's much too sensible to have licked poles and other such Idol worship!;)  In the end the best thing to happen at that time for the sanity of everyone who wasn't a Michael-bopper - they were put in a separate forum and told to confine their comments to there.Smiling

Thought Ben (this year) may have attracted the same type of fans, but his are much more level-headed!

Though I thought Speka was pretty mean at times, know a lot of the time he said things just to wind up the boppers!  And did laugh and secretly agree sometimes!:)   Miss the some of the serious discussions he started, some you could get very involved with, certainly gave you something to think about.

Miss Penname and her chats about TV programmes, and in Speka's discussions!

Miss Easitman who often made me laugh! Remember the big arguments he had with Speka and some others, with him defending Ben, got pretty heated and went on for days at a time!

Thinking abouts misses - haven't seen vee for a while here!

Was glad to see the back of LS!  Stayed away from here when she seemed to be dominating all the threads!  Was very happy when she was banned.

I have an e-pal from England

I don't remember much about her, but I do remember reading a thread about her and Speka and they were saying the truth about them or something? "The truth about Penname and Speka"? And they said that there wasn't anything really going on and they would never meet because of something but they talked on the phone and stuffff. I even remember little quotes and stuff from that thread xD

I think it was one of the first non-Michael threads I read. Laughing out loud

No that was IB-1. I think when everything was imported to IB-2 alot of threads that were not wanted by members wouldve simply been deleted.

Lmao i so remember the bopper who licked that damn pole.

I think the most controversial/scandalous time would have to be a toss up between the picture displaying the glorious physcial features of Ben Supporter, and Miss Shaw and the pictures displaying her favourite kitty.

Oh cool! We can bop together haha Laughing out loud

Oh btw, I just downloaded a song I heard on last night's Scrubs episode which sounded awesome, called "All the Words" by a band called Kutless. A quick Google search revealed them to be a way hardout Christian band, and the lyrics to that track are a homage to Jesus. All of a sudden, I don't like them so much. Am I a bad person?

Pigeon Army 27 October, 2006 - 6:04pm
Phillip Seymour Hoffman=my idol.

I noticed that. I hate preachy Christian bands with a passion, and I listened carefully to the words - any song that says "I lift up my arms and worship you" is a big solid no-no. Give me a P.O.D. anyday.
