The winner's single has been written by James Reid (from The Feelers). James won Song Writer of the year in 1999. The Feelers are putting out their fourth album on November 13th.
There's no contract for an album.
The goss I've heard it that it's all been very last minute and only recorded this week (remember the Top 3 recorded it before). I've also heard both Indira and Matt had a "hideous" time recording it.

WOW this season of idol sucks! At least the winner walks away with some $$$ otherwise it would be a complete waste of time. NO video clip, NO album, NO Idol tour, wow not much for the winner to do when he/she wins!
Was really expecting to hear it. The first time I've watched an Idol show and not heard the winners song on the sing off night!
Few 'firsts' this time though!
So now people can't judge who they'd like to hear sing it the most!

Theyve taken the same idea as The Edge's Boyband - bring out a single first then maybe depending with how things work out bring out another single and possibly album.
Boyband was only ever going to be a one-hit wonder.
That was the whole point.
I thought if they were going to bring something else out if things got "big"

that sorta sucks - I was hoping that they'd stay around like a boyband would - you know they just get in your face annoying!
I'm a fan of the feelers. I don't know how good it will be, but it can't be worse than All I Ask.
In a way, I'm kind of glad there's no album, because that means they can work on their own album and make it better than a 5 day rush job.
One thing life has taught me is that things can always get worse, I make a distinct point of never speaking the words "at least things can't get worse".
If they are going to take a long time recording then they better feed the public a couple of singles to keep the momentum until the album is released.

They shouldn't call the show 'NZ Idol' if the winner only gets to record a single. What a joke. What a stupid, stupid season and a insult to the Idol brand.
I was thinking the same thing to Tui. I suspect the recording Companys or whoever? is abit shy it might be a flop and waste of investment going by past experience. i must look into that abit more.
