Okay, here's my 5 cents worth...
I am at a loss to explain why, oh why, singers can't sing because they want to!? It seems that they (including the top 3) are forever saying things like "I'm in NZ Idol because my partner/mother/grand-dad/dog/cousin..." would be proud of me.
Hell, sing because you want to Idols - stop this pretence about doing it for other people.

Maybe they are doing it for themselves but ALSO for their koro/aunty/mum/friend because thats what makes them more determined?
Maybe not.
Barney how much did you pay Stables to mention you on the show this year?
I always think that. Thought it when Matt said right at the beginning he was doing it for his son - what does his son know about it? Why was Aroha singing for her Grandad?
Why weren't they there singing because they actually wanted to have a singing career and this is a way of helping them to make it. So who in the top 10 actually auditioned for that reason?
Ben for sure, one of the reasons I wished him luck, even if he wasn't one of my favourite singers. Becks too. Probably Toni, and Kali. Definately Victor.
We all know they are in it this year to win the $50,000.00 and the 4WD it's probably the best thing they will get out of being the NZ Idol. The trouble with NZ is they don't promote the winners of NZ Idol. After they release their single we never get to see them on TV anymore. In Australia the Idol winners go on to be very successful with the exception of Cassie. The contestants on Australian Idol like Guy Sebastian, Shannon Noll, Paulini, Cosima, Anthony do well in the music industry and continue to sing at important events.
hehehe......well said zappa......touche...agree completely
Okay, so I shouldn't have a sob story next year?
I agree: Its getting boring. Just about every idol this year has a sob story.
