The rumor surrounding Top 3 finalist and Matt Saunoa have been confirmed by SPP in this morning's Herald on Sunday.
Controversy is swirling around current NZ Idol favourite Matt Saunoa over the unexplained disappearance of a gaming console from the show's premises.
South Pacific Pictures, the makers of Idol, were unwilling to go into specifics about the matter, but did confirm to the Herald on Sunday Saunoa had taken a PlayStation PSP from NZ Idol - but it had since been returned.

If it came out now then they stand to lose a possible 100,000 txt /0900 votes (revenue) moneys as people will simply turn off the whole show and never watch again. Whoever is in the high places in TV companys will be calling in consultants etc to try figure out a easy way outta this mess with minimal Impact.

Yes, Matt did something wrong. Yes, he stole the PSP. But I still support him. He has a clean criminal record, and he lives in a notoriously backwater town, working at a sawmill with a wife and child to support. Yes, it was stupid, but I don't hold it against him. People have done worse, and you treat him as if he's a convicted murderer. His crime is bad, but the character assassination going on here makes him seem like some sort of kleptomaniac. Which we know he isn't. Anyone for a moment of weakness?

For those who keep putting down Levin, isn't Matt originally from Auckland. My only other thought on this thread would be that, I would've thought that they would have been given afew perks on idol. Obviously this hasn't done too much against Matt, as he did end up in the Grand Final. Goodluck to both of them.

What ive heard is that the PSP never left the house. Matt took it from the entertainment room to there bedroom to play it there. When he was asked where it was it was returned. Cant believe all the crap rumours that started out of nothing. He will leave Indira for dead on monday.

Stealing is wrong, Matt abused his privaledges as an Idol contestant. Matt raped the PSP away from the Idol house. This kind of behaviour shouldn't be justified, it doesn't matter how big or small the act is. This is a black and white issue, there's no grey to be found. I hope Indira and Aroha check their belongings knowing they have a 5 finger discount in the house. And notice how relieved Matt's partner was when Dom said she could have the dress?? I bet Matt would've stolen it if they didn't give it to her.

I'm sick of these rumours. After reading this post it wasn't a big deal otherwise SPP would have done something about it. So can everyone concentrate on the singers performances instead of what's going on or what's not going on behind the scenes.
