1. Kali can sing, but she is a 'broadway' singer. It will annoy most people in the end and rules her out.
2. Ben is a great performer and he makes excellent song choices, but his vocal ability isn't quite there yet so he has to go too ... I think he'll be great in a few years time.
3. Aroha is a good singer, but she doesn't quite have the confidence - this will rule her out. Like Ben, she'll probably be great in a few years time.
4. Indira is awesome, but I doubt New Zealand will want another 'Diva' to win. It's natural to compare her to Rosita, who was better, and I think this is going to go against her.
5. Matt has the best balance of performing/singing ability. The others (apart from Indira) don't measure up.
Matt looks older than he is, and wont be able to pull younger listeners. He'll probably record a CD of R&B/Soul tunes that will appeal to the adult contemporary market, but yet again NZIdol will not produce a 'pop' star that can last longer than 'K-Lee'.
The time is so right for a young edgy pop star in our music charts ... tis a shame.

Matt is consistent, always gives an awesome performance. Whether it's pop, country, NZ Music, Matt picks the right songs that suit his voice and he always delivers, always gives a fantastic performance.

Matt is a good singer, he sounds good every week and is the most consistent performer. I like listening to Matt sing as he's always on key and he's good on stage. He's a good looking guy and has a nice smile. Go Matt!

Well, there's just One reason why Matt should win NZ Idol - it's obvious, because he's the best singer - and this is after a singing contest!
He hasn't had a bad performance and has continued to improve and is getting better and better each week!

I actually just genuinely don't think he is a good person...there is something about him...i totally agree with astute girl...he just doesn't ring true...TOO nice and TOO humble...not to mention the cheesy "I dedicate this to my partner and son" crap...it just doesn't fit with the stories escaping the house...

I personally disagree - I mean, sure, they are all good singers, but Matt really doesnt ring my bell...not to mention that from what I have heard, his attitude towards other Idols in the house isn't always exactly "treat with respect" material.

Um Ive heard a different story from VERY reliable sources that Matt is the most diss-liked, backstabed because he is the greatest threat to the other 5 Idols left.

Am I the only one who thinks Matt is a nothing contestant? I mean I'm sure hes a nice guy but hes not that great. I am confused as to why he is the favourite in the polls and most people on here seem to like him. He's dull and his performances are boring. Hes's not NZ Idol material imo, maybe I'm missing something but wtf at all of his fans. He should of gone weeks ago I reckon, he doesnt add anything to the show.

To me, Matt is a lot like Dave from NZ Idol 1. He's got an amazing voice which I could listen to on a CD and relax to but he doesn't seem to have any popstar appeal to me. Even though he's 21, he seems like he's as old as Dave was.
