NZ's newest and biggest mall (sadly http://www.sylviapark.co.nz/ takes you somewhere completely different). I went to go there on opening day but they closed the motorway exits due to traffic chaos!!
Their website is: http://www.sylviapark.org/
Here's some info on the mall:
- Location: Mt Wellington, Auckland (map
- Size: about 34 rugby fields (24ha)
- Carparks: 3000
- Includes:
- Warehouse Extra - with groceries (1.3ha)
- Footwon
- First 7 day Westpac bank branch
- ~60 stores... but this is just phase 1 of 4
- Australian store Kookai to open first NZ shop in August
If you've been, let us know what it was like!

I always try and shop at Footwon. Nice one Rowlf
I saw that on the news
Its HUGE :|
Aww isn't that just lovely
There's a Mt Wellington in Auckland!? :|
yeah its sort of the southern end of central Auckland. it is about 10 minutes on the motorway from the city (On a saturday morning).
oh! lol
How queer.... :|
Yeah I went to the mall yesterday with a friend and its big which is cool. There are some good stores, the classics which is stupid, westpac being open in the weekend is pretty cool but I still wouldn't change tot hem.
They need more carparks most definitely but other than that its pretty cool. I can't wait for the rest to open.
twice the size of St Lukes Lol
my aunty who lives across the road on Mount Wellington highway said there are going to be trains pulling up there too. i was at the Burger King there in January and i took a look at it. it was only in the 1st building stages then.
Telecon will probably move their kit box there now like they did in Wellington to Lower Hutt Westfeild
Weee I hope they do move the KIT boxes. Then its closer to me!
yes! saliva park is closer to the Motorway then St Lukes and easy to access. just 2minutes from motorway. then theres more chance that i'll go to a IBVC in Aucks with my aunty across the road from the main entrance
I might go take a look a few weeks from now when all the hype has died down.
Actually, that reminds me..
A friend of mine had an accident outside there when they were building it.
She drives a road past there every morning around 6-6.30am, and you know how a few weeks ago we had those nasty rainy & dark mornings?
Well, she was driving along on a Friday, doing well under the speed limit, and it was dark and rainy, and suddenly the car in front of her swerved, and she smacked right into these big orange median barrier things that WEREN'T THERE THE DAY BEFORE.
Add to this there there was NO KIND OF REFLECTIVE SIGN, OR AND KIND OF WARNING SIGNAL OR MEN WORKING SIGN, according to her.
She smashed her car into it, but it was still driveable, even though it was really beat up. When she got home that night and had a bath, she found she had brusing all down her left side and cuts to her hands. She was in tears when I talked to her that night.
I asked a policeman friend of mine about it, and he basically said there was nothing she could do!!
He said it's up to the individual motorist to watch where they're going and drive to the conditions, bla, bla..
I think that sucks, to be honest.
In the U.S, those guys would be sued - would have their pants sued off them, but here, there's nothing we can do?
It just didn't seem right
We went, but it was choca so we left
I saw this on the news and those people who actually went there early in the morning are like ANIMALS. Worst than animals. They woke up so early just to buy a freaking $50 TV.
