Ok.. so we had some trouble with the upgrade yesterday so we've reverted back to the old version. Hopefully we can get the new version operational shortly.

I don't know.. but earlier there were envelopes (like I saw in the screenshots) and up the top was a link to community. It was too disorganized looking, I like it better now.
They alone were, but them with everything else just looked cluttered.

The envelopes won't be there on any version, it's just the default but we turn them off on IB.
that's cause we've gone back to the original since I broke the upgrade again. :S

We made most of the changes to the look at the start of May - the site looks very different to how it did last year.

The site shouldn't look any different once we upgrade, it'll just be subtle things.
Why was the homepage so very different when you were upgrading the software last night though? The whole thing was different at the main page and it was :$ easier on the eye and the use of scrolling for the old-fashioned ones of us (old computers with the old screen dimensions) would have been less of a problem too, from the looks of what I saw last night, all there right in front of you and no scrolling needed. Small issue though. Whatever it ends up like will be good knowing your expertise with websites-webdesign now.
You probably temporarily saw the default drupal theme, not the idolblog theme.

There was little envelope thingy's next to threads, more 'recent comments' in the recent comments whatsit ... oh, I thought it looked great. Then there was tge little evil looking blue ball thing that said 'We are upgrading' or something.

Who are they?
CiEvents is a Travel company arranging travel stuff for corporate peeps. When you said you guys are heading off to South America this month. Because I had to assemble South America travel products for my company for CiEvents last month and I did 7,000 + clients in one week. So you'll be seeing quite a few Kiwis in these countries (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru), if you're going to one of those. Especially Brazil.
The new IB format is radical TC, I got a sneak preview last night when I went to log on and found I couldn't and then it came up about "maintenance and be back shortly" but it was after ten by then and I'm flat out like a lizard drinking today, after lunch, getting the garden and house ready for visitors Saturday - Monday.
No wonder Spazz and Cam are favourites of yourself and Admin, they have real techno heads around computers and, I'm assuming, know what they're on about, that's pretty good for Cam though, still at school, and he knows more than I do after a year's study at Polytech on the PC Driver's Licence course - the lower-level version of the three-year 300 level Computing course in which you get a Diploma-Degree at the end. My study was at the 100 level - about Intermediate I think. :$
