No matter how talented Idols are, they flop. Always. They have one #1, and then they're over. Finished. Tossed in the Warehouse bargain bins. Except Kelly Clarkson of course. I like Idol shows but the winners always flop. That's why people shouldn't enter those if they hope to win. It's a vicious spiral of death.

Rosita definitely hasn't 'flopped'. I had a short chat with her tonight and she's been busy going back and forth from Samoa doing gigs to raise awareness etc for Suicide prevention and Diabetes. Sounds like she's using her fame for a few fantastic causes. She also said she's doing some 'underground' type stuff with a band at the moment and will hopefully be back out doing gigs in NZ soon. She asked how the 'blog' was doing too, she has't forgotten about us hehe

Wat an absolute joke. Come on people are we kidding our selfs. New Zealand idol has to be the most downgrading thing to happen to New Zealand. This idol thing will always be a flop. Man everywhere I go there are people with tons of Idol mocking jokes(I too have a few of my own LOL). What has music come to??? The reason why these things flop is because we as humans believe in freedom of speech and same as with freedom of music. OK OK record deals have a little say on how things go. But this just tops the cake. Here we are idolizing these musical string puppets and no-ones got the balls to say what a lot of crap!!! I can bet my pet snail that old Ben the no-one Lummis can barely hold his head up in public because of what happened. And same goes with Rosita whats her name. Man New zealand music is on a rise now and I've been over seas abit to know that we kiwis have a staunch name for being hot musos. Lets not ruine it with this teenie boppy bulls*#@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So how come Ben Lummis still gets "mobbed" whenever he's out in public by people wanting autographs and pictures, etc?!! ;)
As I've said before, the only reason why our Idols haven't done well is because SonyBMG are lazy!
Australian Idol has produced more than 40 Top 40 singles.
I think I'd tend to agree with that ...
I was watching my "old" Idol episodes last night, and thought to myself that Rosita seemed to have disappeared from sight and sound faster than Ben did after he won! :( I mean at least Ben got heaps of performances and appearances, but what did Rosita get?!
Some of the American Idols do ok, but I guess America are better at the whole Idol thing than we are.
Its sad to see that TVNZ are willing to put an individual through the humiliation of a failed contract. Lets not forget those who put themselves out there to audition, and placed on 'Worst of Idol' if they're not great at singing. What kind of message is that sending us? 'If you're not that good, then stop trying and don't bother' or 'if you're great, we'll promise you a fantastic career, which may only last a month'. Good one TVNZ.

It wasn't Rositas fault as such. She's an awesome singer but people weren't really buying the c.d's they just watched the show for fun and the t.v and radio stations aren't really helping get it out there!
Could she have tried harder? Pushed and pushed and got a better result?

I Reckon - I mean Ashley Cooper - promoted herself alot more with an independent record company - Rosita pretty much relied on her being the NZ Idol - which I think is what Ben Lummis had done aswell
But she was busy with interviews etc and she tried the best she could have, like went on t.v programmes, radio...
Ben was tied to BMG for the first year, and with Paul Ellis until recently. He now does have plans to get his career going!
Great if they can get on and do something themselves, but winners are hampered if tied up with contracts - as Rosita probably is now with BMG.

no suprise there!! - I mean - its just another attempt for tvnz to win some sort of ratings - which is why they probaly wanted to air american idol 5 - get the hype building up towards our own idol series - only that america know how to promote their contestants well.
The other idol part was referring to Rosita, yes. Oh well, I'm a sucker for Idol shows. I always tell myself that I wont watch it but I always end up doing so.
