Last week we floated the idea of an Australasian Idol which definitely sparked some discussion, not just within the Idolblog community.
While it is a relatively good idea, the chances of it happening are fairly slim for a number of reasons. Firstly, the producers wouldn't be at all happy about losing such a valuable show and would go out of their way to prevent it from happening. Secondly, I just can't see the Australians agreeing to it. They are quite happy with the way things are and I can't imagine them being happy about a bunch of free-loading kiwis riding off their coat tails just because they can't produce any decent results.
So, I think it would be fairly safe to assume that NZ Idol is going to stay as it is, if there is to be a third season. If this is the case, how easy is it going to be to convince anyone in their right mind to audition when, even if they win, the contract isn't worth the paper that its written on.

Perhaps, as well at the supposed main prize, the producers can throw a car into the deal. Both Australian Idol and American Idol winners also receive cars (However, they do also get an album with a proper release) as part of their prize and I'm sure that with the show being one of the most watched on TV that it shouldn't be too difficult.
At least this way, the winner would actually get something out of the 4 months of their life that they've gifted to TV ratings.

Sorry i have NO idea how i did that :S anyway,
Why don't the kiwis get that?
Because Sony are too lazy to spend the time to convert the winner of the most watched tv show into a successful artist. It's just too hard for them because they are so used to their international counterparts doing it all for them.
Oh ok! thanks! Man that sucks tho..
Hehe, whoever made that Australasian Idol logo, it looks authentic and great!

Thankyou.
I do try. ^^
Heehee. You are right, of course. All these points are perfectly valid ones. It's true that the show would be vastly more beneficial to us than the Australians...but oh well....does it hurt to dream? Anyhow, it's not like it matters. Many New Zealanders will be skipping over to go on Australian Idol now that Emily has done it, you watch. Getting residency there if so darned easy if you're a New Zealander, it's practically automatic. All you have to do then is have some friends or relatives there so you can say that where they live is your hometown and you're set.
Ha! I knew the Ozzies wouldn't like it! I just forgot to post this.
Gee, I would like a car.
I love it! At least their loss in job (or benefit) earnings would be nothing compared to the value of a new car.
maybe we could donate the idolblogmobile?
