Chat: The Men Who Wear Make-up Thread

Submitted by hideousrockboy on 28 September, 2005 - 2:10pm.

Any other guys out there who were make-up, either for acting or other types of performing?

Here is a place to share your passion for makeup and/or any advice you have on applying or removing it.

tallrockboy's hint: Lately I've been using Johnson's Baby Oil to remove my black eye shadow and it's really working well.

I'm back.

When I was with Aaron (my ex), one time he was watching me put my make up on and told me he wanted to borrow my eye liner. It scared me a bit. Sticking out tongue

Pfft. Boys who wear make up just for the sake of wearing make up rather than for performance purposes are the coolest.

Tittiman 29 September, 2005 - 9:53pm

I did when we did our high school production of "A Midsummer Nights Dream". It made me look like Michael Jackson :-|. At least the production was a great success! lol. We used cold cream to remove our makeup which was so stupid! Man, our school's cheap!

Men wearing makeup is one of my biggest turn-offs.
I nearly yakked when Michael Murphy wore eyeliner that time... *shudders at the memory*

Swayer 29 September, 2005 - 2:31pm

I only wear eye make-up, so i just have a really good eye makeup remover called Almay - hypo-allergenic duel phase eye makeup remover.

It's about $17, but it's so effective and so soothing, and won't irritate. It also lasts a long time, well with the way i use it it does. If you just dip a Q tip into it and then run it across where you've got your eye-liner, it'll come off straight away. It's magic!

*feels like Avon lady*

Becks Wright for NZ Idol 3!!

I wear makeup for shows, but I wouldn't say I have a passion for it!

Actually, how timely I should discover this thread, because I have to put makeup on tonight, for the first time since my last show finished in April.  I guess i'll see if I remember how!

I use makeup remover wipes, but they don't get my eyeliner off either.

Mr Phantomb, do you use "Stage makeup" as such, or just regular stuff?  Do you know what the difference is?

I use stage make-up.

It's a bit more rudimentary and raw than regular make-up and probably a whole lot cheaper Eye-wink

cheaper!?!?!  cripes, I assumed it was fancy more expensive so I never really looked into it.

How wrong I've been...

Actually I'm not entirely sure but I think it ranks about as much as the cheap end of make-up.

Easy.

Looks:
Bleach your skin and hair, invest in black eyeliner and aim for no more than 60kgs.

Sound:
Yell when you sing.

Performance:
Take a bunch of laxatives before you go on stage and then try your hardest not to poo your pants when you're yelling.

The Three Step Guide To Being Marty Casey.

And for an added bonus, pick your toenails when being interviewed on camera.

Shocked

Hmmmph.

Looks: Bleach? I want to look like Marty Casey .... not Michael Jackson. Sticking out tongue

Sound: 'Wish You Were Here' the Marty Casey version .... most popular download from the show .... no yelling, 'nuff said. Sticking out tongue

Performance: The 'scary conductor' and the 'bend-over-backwards-for-the-big-note' moves are so cool I get the chills when I see them happen. Sticking out tongue

So there you go Smiling

The easiest way of removing my stage make-up is with babywipes.

I can never get eyeliner off though.

You can buy eye makeup removers from the $2 shop? Far, the next thing you know you'll be able to buy tampons from there...

 lol i dont know

we dont need them in the production at school, but our teacher gave hair and makeup a tiny winy budget (like $20 or something) so they had to buy cheap as stuff
