Top 8 - Results Show

Submitted by alcatel on 14 September, 2005 - 2:30am.

Dom  welcomes us and reminds us of Keshia's shock exit last week.   He asks Nik how he's feeling as he has spent the previous two weeks in the bottom three.  Nik replies that he's feeling pretty good but wants to concentrate that his mouth doesn't drop to the floor.

On to the quick replay of the performances.

Over to the judges...Dom jokes the one he was waiting for was Frankie's hit,  'My Elusive Dreams'.  Frankie coyly responds with a "yeah maybe, may be not."

Frankie thinks bottom 3 will be Nik, Frank and Steve.

Jackie doesn't agree and thinks Frank, Ashley and Rongo.

Paul says he thinks the bottom three will be Rosita, Rongo and Frank.

The Idols take a trip to More FM studios for their first radio interview.  They are asked about nerves, Teresa replies that it is positive as an adrenalin rush and Ashley comments that she gets a real itchy tongue, lol!   Another question about the judges' criticisms, Steve doesn't think it hasn't been too bad, Nik laughing, says that he's used to it now.  A caller congratulates them for their single debuting at #5 and Dom reminds them that is 'top 5' of the whole country.

Down to business...

Jesse and Steve are sitting together, neither have been to stools yet...  Jesse is safe, Steve is in bottom 3.

Rosita and Teresa sit together....Teresa was in bottom 3 last week, Rosita has yet to go to the stools...both are safe!

After the break, feedback from people on the streets with varying replies of 'who's gonna win?', then back to the studio.

Frank and Rongo...neither have been to the stools.  Dom says Rongo went 80's again and the judges loved it, and that the judges are losing patience with Frank...and it turns out so are the voters...Frank is in the bottom 3.

Before we move on to the remaining two, Nik and Ashley,  we go on a flashback to Hamilton to meet Jesse's adorable kids and partner Cat.   Michael sports a similar haircut to his daddy, and Carmel treats us with a cute harmony to her dad's performance of 'Be Yourself' by Audioslave.   We are introduced to the Hamilton Elim church where Jesse plays guitar and drums and to the pastor who complains (jokingly) that the tithes and offerings have dwindled in favor of the Idol voting lines!  Out spending family time, the devoted parents and well suited couple and their cute kids are adjusting well to more occasions of mobbing by adoring fans, to prove that Jesse has plenty of Idol support in Hamilton.  Michael may just be promoted to be Jesse's PR manager, since he has the 'vote for my daddy t-shirt' to prove it, lol.

Back  to Nik and Ashley...Nik is safe, Ashley is in the bottom 3.

After the break, on to a makeover with Teresa in preparation for the show, and she notes how important it is to have the makeup fit in with the style of the song being sung.

Bottom 3:  Steve, Frank and Ashley.

Dom reminds us Steve and Frank are newbies to the stools.

Who's safe?   Steve.

Ashley and Frank.... Ashley is going home.

Ashley tearfully thanks family, friends, supporters, and the judges and wishes her fellow contestants all the best before reprising her song.
