The judges are introduced with incredibly lame jokes. Paul says he wants to encourage the Top 24 contestants.

Group 2 arrive at the house and get into the food straight away. There's a big pool out the back and a nice back yard.

Saelyn chose her name out of the hat first - she had a gut feeling she'd be up first. She looks beautiful in a red top. She sings "I Feel The Earth Move" - she's a good performer and works the camera well.  Frank wasn't sure about the song choice but he likes her "adventurous" "soulful" voice. Jackie loves her edge but not the song. Paul adds his little pop history speil - he can't stand her song choice, I'm tired of his music trivia.

Daniel Bell is up singing "Virtual Insanity" by Jamiroquai... he is even dressing the part... I'm scared. Daniel shows us the holes in his socks and says he could try out for handstand idol. Unfortunately he just can't pull it off for me. Oops, he missed a few lines... To be honest, I'm glad that's over. Paul said he blew it missing out the words, Paul says his voice isn't strong enough. Frankie liked his quirkiness. Jackie says there's something about him but didn't think he kicked it enough tonight.

Rick chooses to sing "This Love" by Maroon 5. His family are supporting him hard. He's loved the experience so far - although he's not sure about the hair straightening. His voice seems very average to me and I went to sleep a little during the performance. Jackie says he's a natural on stage but says he'll appeal more to the mums than the teenage girls out there. Frankie says it's just bland and not inspiring but he can sing and looks good. Paul liked the song choice and thinks he's good - he looks at the other judges like "nyeh nyeh nyeh".

Lissel says her name is actually a nickname which comes from the name Melissa. She's singing "Chains" by Tina Arena. She's wearing very gypsy-like clothing. I don't like the stud under her lip. She hits all the big notes well and I think she's got a good chance of going through to the Top 10. Frank said there was nothing bland about that performance and she has a very expressive face. Paul says it was "nifty, neato, swell". Jackie says she totally rocks.

Rosita is up next. We learn she's a debt collector, fun fun! I don't like her outfit at all. She's singing "I Have Nothing" by Whitney Houston. Now we'll hear "the note". Her voice is amazing - but I wonder if she has more in her to give. The tone is beautiful. Paul wonders if she's holding back and wants to see her grow. Jackie says it's great but wants to see more from her. Frankie wants more edge from her in time.

Shelley sings "Saving All My Love for You" by Whitney Houston. She has three kids. Wow - her hair looks beautiful straightened and coloured!!! She could do a shampoo ad. She sounds nice but is it enough? Oopsie, she missed the last note and had to try again... she's a smoker. Paul says it's the end of the road for her. Frankie says he's heard her sing it better. She's had a sore throat all day.

Mathew says he likes to tap dance. He's singing "When The War Is Over" by Cold Chisel. He's got straight and shiny hair. He's got a lovely voice and sounds fantastic. Frankie says he can sing. Jackie he has a really great voice but asks him to keep his moves simple. Paul says he's a NZ Idol geek and to think outside the world of "www.mathew"????!!! Paul's comment was totally uncalled for and a personal insult nothing to do with his performance or voice.

Ashley looks a little like Katie Holmes... sings "Love Really Hurts Without You" by Billy Ocean. I'm a little bored by her performance... it's a bit of a nothing song. The judges criticise her song choice.
