So is anybody watching this? There's a bunch of people who are singing to try to get the part of lead singer with INXS to replace Michael Hutchence on their next album.
On the first night most of them looked like they were trying much to hard, some making themselves look really weird like one guy in particluar who looked mental! A lot are also really forcing the sound out and sound like they're straining their voices. The members of INXS choose one to go each night, and they will decide who finally joins them on their album.
I agreed with their first bottom 3 anyway, also picked the girl they said had to go first.

Yes, very gutted that I missed Rockstar - had every intention of taping the episodes. I think I missed the first 3 or 4 the first time around too

So loved watching this again!:) Recorded it and watched it, then half again!:) Now someone's recorded over it.
Most definately think the singers on this were so much better than on Supernova! Loved Jordis, she's probably the most comparable with Dilana, but soooo much better - and prettier!
Love seeing Suzie again too - also Mig and Ty.
Especially liked to see JD - I never liked him for most of the series last time, but then he grew on me near the end, now I've realy got a soft spot for him. Laughed so much as his first 'manic' performance and when one of the band members said he looked possessed!:) Right from the start, he was the one who walked in the house and was really into INXS, their photos on the wall, etc and said he just so much wanted to win to sing with them!
So cool to see Marty performing 'Take Me Out' by Franz Ferdinand (sp?) again! Ty, MiG, Jordis ... Daphna (hot! - Dana Andrews out hots her though).
Funny you liking Marty - and Lukas, because they're the ones I didn't like from each series!
Someone else I spoke today though was really happy to be seeing Marty again!

JD said they were coming to perform in NZ in September, think it may have been the 23rd, not too sure about that. Appearing in a new stadium, probably the first act to be there - in Auckland I think!

I heard bit bit of an interview with More Manawatu and JD on the radio last night when I was in the car! He did sound like a nice guy, he grew on me nearer the end of the contest!

JD & Gary Beers will be in Auckland making an instore appearance at Sounds music store, 191 Queen Street on Tues 4 April , and there will be a couple of NZ concerts, dates to be announced on 1st April

Esta rang and asked if I wanted to go see them with her but I'd just miss them, by the time I finish work, walk to my car, drive in, find a park blah blah. Listening to them at the moment though. Bought Switch a couple of weeks ago and love it.
Haven't heard specific dates but if I remember correctly, I heard July sometime. Not sure if this helps. hehe

Rock Star Returning!

Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted and one-time Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke have formed a new band called Supernova, and will use a CBS reality show to find a singer.
The series, carrying the working title of Rock Star, will premiere in the States in their summer. Once a singer has been selected, Supernova will record an album for release in the fall. A world tour will follow in early 2007.
Last fall, Rock Star debuted to low ratings in the States as a talent search for a new INXS frontman. With winner J D Fortune in tow, the Australian group has revived its career with a new album, Switch, and an extensive tour. INXS will return to the road April 21 in Memphis.
Guitarist Dave Navarro and actress Brooke Burns will return as the hosts of the Mark Burnett-produced show. In a statement, Navarro promised appearances from Slash, Macy Gray, Moby and Rob Zombie during the competition.

They've just brought out applications for Rockstar: The Show or something like that! So I have a feeling it might just be a lame attempt at being American Rock Idol now unless the band is a secret.
In the TV Guide for 4/10th Feb:
'A second season of RockStar is set to kick off later this year, but there's no word yet as to whether the band will be famous or new.
Dave Navarro and Brooke Burke will return to host the new season of the reality show'.
Watched part of the INXS special on C4 the other night, the part showing the making of 'Switch'. Really good to watch, talking to the band members about the songs, how they chose them, the meaning, etc. Also showing the recordings of some of the songs, and how they were built up from just JD singing and then things changed and added. At one point, JD was referred to as Jason. They said it was probably the best mix album they have produced. The first for 9 years.
After the Pretty Vegas video was show, JD said when he first sung it on the show he thought that could be the last time he would!
'Everglow' seemed to be a song everyone was particularly taken by. It was said that it blew some of the band members away when they heard how it was sounding. That's my favourite too! Would be a fantastic choice for follow-up single! 'Hungry' seemed to be another favourite of the band - my other!
It was said that 'God's Top Ten' was dedicated to an old friend, they were hoping people who knew him could relate to it.
Wish I had watched all of it and recorded it!
