I'm absolutely flabbergasted..

...CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts cited by ITV News showed that the Brazilian was not wearing a padded jacket and walked calmly through the underground station barriers – contrary to initial reports that he was running and had a bulky jacket that could have concealed a bomb.

Firearms officers had been given clearance to kill de Menezes but, as they sped towards the underground railway station, he apparently seemed completely unaware that he was being tailed, ITV News said.

According to witness accounts and statements made by police officers involved, de Menezes boarded the train and was restrained by a surveillance officer before he was shot eight times....

Not only was he innocent, but he did NOTHING to warrant any kind of attention!

He didn't run
He didn't jump the barricade
He wasn't told to stop by the Police.

He was simply followed into a train, held down and shot 8 times.

Disgusting.

is everyone louder than everyone else?

British police have got a rather poor history where bombers are concerned.... look at the Guildford 4.... completely wrong....  and now, again, they've got it completely wrong....

I seen that, i think the Police may have gotten carried away or panicked.

*is a can opener*

They showed some footage on 3 News last night saying most of the images were too graphic for TV.

Who's going to be held accountable? No-one.

SoulPatrolBaby 24 July, 2005 - 7:45pm

they shot the wrong man...

is everyone louder than everyone else?

..how could they get it soo wrong....??  why did the fella run..??... .... poor everyone concerned.... poor London.....what an absolute mess....

Smeagoll 26 July, 2005 - 4:18pm
I'm not insensitive, I just don't care.

The cops are idiots! If they were not 100% sure of who this man was, and just assumed he had something to do with the bombings, then they should not of fired with intention to kill.

If they had to shoot, they still could of shot him in the leg or something so he didn't get away. But shooting a man when they only thought he had something to do with it makes me angry.

Zoe. 26 July, 2005 - 10:03pm

The dude was stupid to run away, he could of had a button in his hand that activated a bomb for all the police knew, if they hadn't shoot him & he had been a suicied bomber then alot more people would of died, the police were wrong but if they didn't shoot him the consequences could of been alot worse.

Smeagoll 26 July, 2005 - 11:56pm
I'm not insensitive, I just don't care.

Ok, so next time i run away from the police i should expect a bullet in my ass...

They shouldn't of shot him without proof of some kind he had something to do with the bombs! He was just an innocent guy who was trying to get a train to work, it's the fact they had no evidence to provoke the shooting that is horrible. Shooting with intention to kill without proof he is guilty is wrong.

I hope the Police who shot him will be sentenced in jail for at least 5-10 years because it's unfair for the victim's family and friends.

very tricky situation cookie monster.

the Police must of panicked. but cant the silly idiots just shot him in the legs and crippled him? i wouldnt like to be a Police Officer but unfortunately someone's gotta take out the trash. the Police involved should'nt really be sent to the Slammer as the hard core inmates will make their lives hell !! Those Police and every onther Policemen in the UK should immediately be put through a training programme to be taught how not to blow a person in the head at point blank range but instead just shoot him in the ass or legs. They can also inlist the IDF Israeli Defence Forces to come over there and show them how to deal with Islamic terrorists like they do in Israel.

Zoe. 27 July, 2005 - 8:22am

What happens when next time, they shoot him in the leg, he falls over & boom, a bomb goes off & 50 people die?
I bet if that happened everyone would blame the police for not shooting him in the head.

Oh & Chevy you can have a cookie, here :cookie:

I know, when I heard that on the radio I was just flabbergasted that's SO HORRIBLE.
I mean, it was sorta silly of the guy to refuse to stop for them, but he didn't deserve to be killed Shocked
Sad

SoulPatrolBaby 24 July, 2005 - 7:48pm

yeah bet they feel stink.

Mikes_Angel 22 July, 2005 - 9:47pm

i think that the world would be better off if there was no terrorism at all as look at those places eaching young kids to be suicide bombers and kill other people as there seems to be an increase in terrorist bombings each year because of this happening to young children and Adults from these places being brounght up with it..........Hope that makes sense

Western Society have skools for education purposes. Palistinian's also have skools but skools that teach their children to hate Israeli's and Jews. there are also summer camps that HAM-ASS run that teachers young adults how to be terrorists and fight the Zionist cause. How sad:(

mama-mia 22 July, 2005 - 5:21pm

I'm so pleased our daughter is home..but we had some very scary times when she was over there..with the nail bomb in somewhere in London...they had a flat just around the corner...not nice when you can't reach them on the phone.

i knew a friend who was over there for a holiday and she missed the 1st bombing's buy a day.........yea in a way if you have family over there and you just don't know what has happened to them you would be freaked and worried as well because you just don't know what has happened to them...........why can't people just leave London alone

Nellie old account 22 July, 2005 - 5:20pm

Well, if Labour get in again, NZ wont be fighting... hmm, reason to vote Labour.

I don't think we should fight if there's another World War because we are too far from these troubled countries and we should start being a neutral country and stop with these nonsense about helping America because it's their problem that they want to stick their noses to some country's problem.

BIMI 22 July, 2005 - 8:35am
What's the craic?!

I had a strange feeling something like this would happen again very soon after the last lot ... man, what is WITH these people?!!  At least it seems they didn't seem to be as careful this time, cause several people saw them, and one guy even left his shoes behind!  LOL  Hopefully the police can catch them this time ...

Wow - looks like four young men who have lived all their lives in England are suspected. No history of terrorism.

Poor muslim's :'(! Yeah, Aussie is supposed to be next.. but Nz could b a possibilty in future

MattyJ 22 July, 2005 - 2:33am

Yes, many people think that NZ is not at risk. They forget that some terrorists have no ambition to destroy superpowers, they simply want to destroy peace and cause terror, which is, after all, what a terrorist is, a person who causes terror.. Well, I myself can't think of many more peaceful places than New Zealand....:S

Loyal 11 July, 2005 - 4:52pm

That's dreadful that the muslim people and their mosques are being targeted here in NZ.  It would be like when an IRA bomb went off, you wouldn't blame and target all the Irish people would you!

London has been the target of bombings for many years (as has much of England).  People have learnt to live with it, and carry on with their lives.  Still dreadful though when it happens!  Someone I spoke to yesterday went there about 12 years ago and remembered Hampstead tube station being closed because of a bomb.  The same trip a large building was blown up in the centre of London.

Terroroists are an awful enemy to have, a hidden one.

There's no reason for NZ to be a target though!  Just individuals being attacked by vandals/idiots like's happening now!

Aaron. 11 July, 2005 - 4:33pm

"Australia is far far more likely than NZ since they supported the war on terror." Lol are you scared?

I wouldn't be surprise if NZ will be the terrorists next target. After what happened with those Auckland mosques, they have new reasons now to target our little country 'NZ'. Can someone please remind these people that most Muslims are also against in terrorism.

admin 11 July, 2005 - 12:20pm

No, I highly doubt it. Australia is far far more likely than NZ since they supported the war on terror.

Texas 11 July, 2005 - 6:16pm
People are difficult to govern because they have t

That's not the point. If we pissed the muslims here in NZ, the terrorists might think that we're against at their religion. The Auckland mosques news reached as far as Israel. Don't be surprise that any day from now that one of NZ's landmarks e.g. Sky Tower, Harbour Bridge etc. will vanish.

SoulPatrolBaby 11 July, 2005 - 6:21pm

yeha man those guys were sad a** whoever did that..not all muslims are the same man, that act could cost us!

SoulPatrolBaby 11 July, 2005 - 1:08pm

gahhhhh im going to aussie 2moro,now im all freaked out!

I dont think they should call these animals Terrorists.... its beginning to glorify them..... ..call them cowardists.. ....Cowadists attacks....

my mate Gorden works for London Transport.. as a planner or something.... bet hes having a hell of a few days at work.....hes a kiwi too.. from chch...

another friend had his legs blown off in a Soho Pub Bombing a few years ago.... he was also from chch......

I lived in Camden Town... the IRA put a bomb in the rubbish bin outside Boots the chemist..... glad I was back here at the time... use to walk past it all the time....

People in London need to be really vigilant about unattended bags and packages......... in fact... every country in the world needs to be...
