This week's Sunday News has two very interesting articles relating to NZ Idol. The first is a feature on the party lifestyle of a slobby looking NZ Idol 1 runner up, Michael Murphy, and mentions a number of incidents involving excessive alcohol and the police.
The second is dedicated to this year's most desperate for 15 minutes of fame - Malibu Girl Liz Shaw. The trashy looking Idol hopeful's audition will be one of this week's watercooler moments and possibly one of the most talked about of the series.

It does seem to add up about Michael - the comments on the forum about people seeing him drunk at 6am Friday, the cancelled appointments and the incidents in the paper.. but it's hard to say. I'd still like to know what Michael is so busy with at the moment.

Actually the moment Michael signed up to the NZ Idol Top 10, the moment he came second and was given a recodring deal, his life was no longer his own. He is now in the public spotlight, he has young New Zealanders who looked up to him, he should be setting an example for a healthy lifestyle. Getting drunk and getting into various incidents involving the police isn't "just a normal 18 year old". I know plenty of people this age who don't even drink at all!
