I went to Oamaru today with the Friendship Club I belong to and we had lunch at the Detroit Diner there - lamb shanks with vegetables, and icecream and fruit salad for dessert - then it was off to the Galleon Restaurant Ten Pin Bowling Alley for a game of Ten Pin Bowling, which I haven't played for two years, since the Bowling Alley where I live closed down due to lack of business.
I ended up getting the top score out of the 20 of us that went on the trip - 86 - but normally used to get over 150's scores with lots of strikes, here at home - and didn't get any of those today but did get a couple of spares.
We had a beautiful day weather wise and a great day of fun and fellowship.
2nd of July we are going to Temuka to look at a specially decorated house out at Rise Road and then off to a member and her husband's place for a finger tea afterwards.
Anyone else tried their hand - for the first time - at Ten Pin - or played again after a long absence and scored a good score?

The first time I played Ten Bowling was five years ago and everyone were shocked because they thought that I've been playing it for ages and I scored the highest scores between me and my competitors.
I went ten pin bowling for the first time in ages a while ago and the first turn I had I got a strike but after that I was crap There was about thirty people that I was with and I maneged to lose Go me
I have never tried Ten Pin Bowling - I know people who have and they really enjoyed it.....I don't see what could possbily be so fun about it? But I guess I shouldn't talk until I try it for myself - Which will probably be never.
I never knew why it would be fun. I still don't know but I've played it lots now and it is fun!! lol The best though is glow in the dark bowling at Xtreme. I always stock up on $1 and $2 coins for the jukebox.
Soooo cool! I did that for my birthday this year and I'd never won a game against my Dad and possibly my older sister as well. A couple of bung turns and I came second by 1 point. :S I got 104 and Dad won with 105. I had fun though!!
Lol - Well done for almost beating your dad.

Meh I just don't see what's so fun about rolling a ball down the lane and knocking over some bowling pins? I'd rather get a ball and try and knock some real people standing in a row with a bowling ball! - Now how fun would that be? I like my idea of a game better!
I guess you make your own fun with the game. Maybe. I say try it once, and if you don't like it, don't play it again! It's not very expensive. It's like the whole atmosphere at Xtreme. But at a normal bowling alley, just make sure you're with fun people and act like a dork. I do.
Verrrry true. I love ten pin bowling
I act like a dork everyday - For some reson it comes to me naturally! I was born to be a dork!
Me too. Therefore I'm thinking you shall have fun. Trust me. (Frankness!!
)
Lol I can so imagine myself embarrassing myself! Falling over etc...Basically making a complete and utter fool of myself!
That's when you feel embarrassed but just laugh. Like when I did this spectacular fall at the train station when it was wet, I slipped and ended up sprawled on the ground. I just lay there and laughed!! It was hilarious!! And then I gloated about how I didn't have any physical evidence of ever falling.
It makes for a memorable occasion!
Whenever I fall/slip, I hate it when my mates end up laughing at me - I don't think it's funny at all! But whenever they end up falling I think it's hilarious!!
We did Tenpin bowling at Takapuna in primary. We got tshirts too
and I wrote a story about it and it was in the newsletter. Heh.
I have one of those tshirts..somewhere in my room. :S
I really love ten pin bowling, although I'm useless at it ... usually I manage to score about 80 points! LOL However, one time I had an awesome night and got 105!! Yay for me!
Friendship Club?! Cute.. :S
Explanation = club for people - single and married - where you can enjoy social outings, trips etc.
Last time I played tenpin bowling was around this time last year. Am definitely not good @ it but it's great fun.
