I got up at 4:30, and made it to the Telstra Clear Centre by about 5:45.  Why do none of the parking ticket machines work?  I had to nervously leave my car without a pay-and-display, even though one of the machines had accepted $4.50 from my credit card...

Anyhoo, I was in the first group of 10 to go up today (8th), and I sung for Suzanne, some guy whose name I don't remember, and some girl who wasn't introduced to me.  I did "She's Got a Way" by Billy Joel, and it wasn't my best performance, but i'm sure nobody really does their best. 

They were smiling during my song, and then at the end the guy wrote something down on a piece of paper, and Suzanne said "yeah, that's fair" and then they told me that I had a 'maybe'.  Instead of a tick or a cross on my slip, I got a question mark, which means that they didn't want to put me straight though, because they don't know who else they might hear that could be better, but they didn't want to turn me away either.  So if I get a phone call this evening, i'm back tomorrow, and if I don't, i'm not.

Either way i'm really pleased - it was nice not to be told NO straight off the bat, so all in all it was a successful day :)

... I just got a phone call... they said yes!

... today wasn't quite as successful ;), Paul stopped me just after the bridge of my song, and said that my biggest mistake was the way I dressed.  I agree with him mostly - I wasn't planning to be wearing a jumper over my shirt, but I was too cold!  Paul also said my voice was very theatrical.  Frankie agreed about the clothes, and said my voice was pleasant enough, but it was a no.  Jackie said it was very nice, but they were looking for 'edgy', and it wasn't edgy.  No worries, though, I had heaps of fun and I can't wait to watch the auditions and see if I recognise anybody!
