Has anybody round here got the Westlife autobiography yet? I mean, I know it's not available in our stores yet, but you can order it from Amazon Eye-wink It's called Westlife: Our Story, and is basically "written" by the guys and has so many classic Westlife stories thoughout the years in it.
My favourite is Nicky's retelling of a case of "delly belly" he had when they were in Asia for a TV appearance one year! Heh heh heh .... you're going to have to get the book now to read it for yourself Sticking out tongue LOL

I found an article this morning which had a few excerpts from Mark that appear in the book too, so I'll whet your appetite with those:

On Westlife's early days: If you even suggested not doing something, you felt that you were unprofessional. There was always this big desire to impress the record company, so we didn't get time off for 180 days.

On drugs: I was so naïve when we first started I thought people would throw cocaine at us on stage at Top Of The Pops.

On his management: I felt pressure about my weight for a long time. Once somebody from the Westlife camp went into my hotel room and took the sweets out of the minibar.

On singing for the Pope: Meeting the Pope was a huge thing for me. I'm not ultra-religious but that whole experience was just so spiritual.

On Kate Nash: I bought her album and thought it was great. Then I read her saying how she and Amy Winehouse were doing it for the girls and then saying words to the effect of 'instead of all that s**te like Westlife'. I was really hurt. I had to throw her CD in the bin, I couldn't listen to it anymore.

On meeting Mariah Carey: I asked to meet Mariah. The word got back saying Mariah would love to meet me. I walked into a room packed with media, a full-blown press conference with Mariah perched on an extravagant chaise longue. I was worried that she would be mean to me in front of the press but she was lovely.

hey just wondering...
is it true about the dvd being recorded and released this year?
if so... is it true that itll be recorded at croke?
fingers crossed that they do!!!!

BIMI 20 June, 2008 - 5:17pm

I definitely HOPE the release the recording they did at Croke Park this year ... cause I was there, and it was fantastically phenomenal!!!
Plus there were signs around that said that the event was being recorded, and a couple of the guys mentioned it too, so fingers crossed Sony BMG get it right this year and release it on DVD!
(I reckon they stuffed up last year not recording The Love Tour, cause that concert was just as brilliant, in my opinion - well, not quite, but nearly ... worthy of being kept on recording anyway!)

Heard on C4 that some Westlife concerts have been cancelled due to 2 of the guys being sick!Sad

Do you know what's wrong with them BIMI? If anyone does reckon it will be you.Eye-wink

Hope they haven't got the bad throat and cough bug I seem to have come home from New Plymouth with! Maybe it was floating round in the air there! Imagine if we've got the same thing!!!! And no it wasn't from me - I was perfectly OK then!

BIMI 22 May, 2008 - 2:46pm

My personal opinion ... having to do a concert two days after a 36 hour flight (or whatever it is!) from New Zealand!!! Sad
They could've very easily picked up a simple cold or something in New Zealand (given the coldness they experience while here) but not being able to rest at all, and basically running on empty for the last few weeks, wouldn't have assisted them in getting rid of it quickly Sad
I blame the promoters and managers who organised the extra shows too close to when they got back into the northern hemisphere!

Been reading more about the reviews of the NZ shows on the Westlife site.

Have to say that I noticed comments about guys not wanting to admit to liking them.
Well, my husband's a bigger fan that me of their music. They're actually his favourites! Though not mine - as I reckon most people will know.Eye-wink We joked about the fact that I was going with him because of that reason.
Mind you - was really keen to go too, as I always liked listening to them, and since seeing the show have been reading more about them - and actually finding out who's who.Eye-wink
I was so impressed, they won me over completely.Smiling
A mate of his at work went with his wife to Wellington - because he wanted to see them himself - and really enjoyed it too!

Was speaking to some women at work and all were jealous of me going. When I said 'so why didn't you go?' It was mainly because the Wellington tickets sold so quickly and they couldn't have a day off to get to New Plymouth.

ha yeah it is strange......I know myself......being a guy (and the answer is no im not) - I was a little embarrassed to admit it, luckily one of my friends was a big fan of theirs so I just said I was going with her. hehe
When I got to work alot of people found out I went - and I couldnt really care less - and because of that no one else does either! haha I get made fun of for a little while.....but eghh its all in fun so it was all good.

BIMI 19 May, 2008 - 12:51pm

It so does! I have to agree with you on that one Smiling I'm like, well, I've been telling you for years how brilliant they are ...
Heh heh!
Not wanting to say "I told you so" or anything LOL

As long as ive been a member on idolblog for.....Ive only been on the westlife forum for a wee while now! loving it ever since.......its good to have chats with other kiwis.......hey btw.....anyone see the C4 you choose 40 repeat on Monday last week? I couldnt believe how many Westlife songs were on there!! Well I didnt watch it on that Saturday.....I was obviously at the concert......when I was 3Ging with my sister at home she was showing me westlife at number 22 on her phone at the same time!!! talk about 2 birds with 1 stone!

oh yeah westlife'flying without wings' was number 1!!!!
YEEEAHHH!

BIMI 20 May, 2008 - 10:54am

I thought it was extremely fitting that FWW was #1 on the night the boys were actually IN the country Laughing out loud It was fantastic!!!

In other news, they've had to postpone their shows in Nottingham and Cardiff this week cause Shane and Nicky aren't well Sad Hopefully it's nothing too serious, and they are back on stage before too long! Personally, I reckon the toll of flying across the world, doing interviews, and concerts, and other appearances, and then flying back again, has caught up with them Sad They need a rest! LOL

hams_coconut 20 May, 2008 - 4:37pm
>>Lavina Williams should have won Australian

awww gosh I hope theyre alright?
yeah totally agree......it'll be hard to do all that work and then keep a smile everytime a fan sees you....defintely need a rest....and after all that theyre just going to postpone and not cancel.....now thats loyalty to fans!!

BIMI - was thinking of you when they said on New Plymouth radio inteview about going back home and they'll be playing in Ireland! Wondering if that's when you'd be there! So close now!Smiling Bet having just seen them's making it even more exciting!Smiling

Must go and visit the Westlife web-site and add my comments from here in NZ!Smiling Already had a read there - see a lot of people from NZ already have added reviews of the NZ concerts!Smiling

BIMI 15 May, 2008 - 6:13pm

I don't suppose you recorded the radio interview, did you?!!! Eye-wink Or know which station it was on so maybe I can check out their audio archives one lunch time!

The best site for Westlife fans is definitely www.westlife.com - the forum is fabulous! and we have so much fun Smiling

Loyal 16 May, 2008 - 12:39pm

No didn't record the interview - was out and about on the road! But it was on More Taranaki Breakfast Show - Tuesday morning.

That's the site I've been looking at - and thanks so much for adding my comments BIMI.Smiling Good to let them know what others across the sea here think of the shows in NZ.Smiling
The more enthusiasm and support from here - the more they'll think about coming back!Smiling (hopefully)

They were brilliant!!!!Smiling Amazing concert - first class!Smiling
Was so excited about going to see Westlife at New Plymouth on Tuesday. Stayed for a few days and only just got back! My hubby's favourite music too!

Pathetic venue - flat sport arena. Lines of narrow plastic chairs tied together with your knees touching the seat in front. Being halfway back, was had to see the stage. With long wait for the guys to come on, was getting a bit disappointed.
But when the lights finally went down and the screaming began as they came out - there was no thinking of the venue or anything else! Everyone standing at Westlife concerts we were told - and that was it for the rest of the nearly 2 hours! Everyone up and moving and singing and clapping to the music - even my hubby.Eye-wink
The guys were brilliant - a true professional and classy act throughout with changes of mood and clothing and excellent band fillers in between.
Their singing a every bit as good - if not better than on recordings - well better I reckon because the music was so good that it all added to the sound. But not only the excellence of the singing and performing, but the connection to the audience and personalities of the guys all coming across!

Would loved to have gone again - and thought of those lucky Auckland people who could have!

2 hours has never passed so quickly! And just can't wait until they come again - will be first in the queue for tickets then!

Hope they loved their visit to New Zealand and felt the love and warm welcome from everyone here. New Plymouth certainly put on the good weather - for them to see the country at it's best.Smiling

geeze couldnt believe that pommy chick with the tattoos.....they looks sooo awesome.....not something I would do but man did they look kewl!

I would have taken pictures but my camera couldnt even focus from so far away.....at the moment ive only got blurry pictures.....but i wasnt too fussed....I was still buzzing the morning after!!

BIMI 15 May, 2008 - 11:01am

I went to the Wellington concert and it was everything I hoped it would be ... and twenty billion times more!!!!! Laughing out loud It was absolutely amazing! So can't wait for two weeks time Eye-wink

Oh, and the woman with the tattooed signatures on her arms - you haven't seen anything; there's a couple of woman on that side of the world with their FACES on their backs!!!!! Shocked Talk about fanatical! One of them got Shane, Mark, Nicky and Kian's face done one week and she was going to go back the next week and get Brian's face added, but then he left the band! Sooooo lucky she didn't do his tattoo the same week!!! LOL

hams_coconut 15 May, 2008 - 5:23pm
>>Lavina Williams should have won Australian

two weeks time? OMG you going especially for them?
wow....thats soo kewl.....im jealous!....take heaps of pictures for us!!!

FACES on their BACKS? oh hell.....ok.....now thats definitely not me....

whoa! lucky about the whole Brian tattoo! but how much of a coincidence was that!? lucky woman.....but I wouldnt have minded having Brian as part of the guys..

BIMI 13 May, 2008 - 2:45pm

Absolutely stunningly fantastic!!!!! (Is that a word? I think I just made up a word!)

Head across to my facebook page to check out a few pics I took from the Wellington concert on Friday night, which I wished I could go back and relive again ... and again ... and again!!! I was immensely jealous of Alaina for getting to see them TWICE in Auckland this week Sticking out tongue

Anyway, now I can look forward to Dublin I guess Eye-wink Heh heh

BIMI 27 March, 2008 - 9:16am

Well, you better plan your overseas trip before June this year if it is going to involve a Westlife concert, cause they'll be taking a break after that and won't be touring again till 2010, by all accounts Sad
