Week 6 and a SHOCK result!
The most unexpected - shocking exit of any of this type of contest in NZ!
After weeks of being in the judges top group and never in the bottom 2 (or 3?) Never having given a bad performance, and in fact always on top of whatever he sung - Ben was in the bottom 2 and was the one to go!
When I get my mind round this, I will comment on the rest of the show below!

Unfair alright! Matt and Emily were given crap-ass obscure songs to sing that in no way suited them. The Don Henely song Matt was given... lyke what was that? Everyone else got the premo songs which anyone who walked in off the street could've of sang

OK, back now to talk about the rest of the show! My feeling before I knew about Ben going!
Thought it was a really silly song for Emily. She looked too old to dress and behave like a litte girl - but not her fault she was given that song. She made a good effort.
Wasn't impressed with Nik again! Or Matt at all. Thought Matt sounded like he had a bad throat like I've had! Can't understand for the life of me why the judges raved over him and his good voice.
And of course he aopolgised - it was like Aroha when she apologised for something in Idol - made them both sound good and remorseful!
When David came decided I liked his singing much better than either Nik or Matt, performed OK too!
Really glad that finally the judges gave Ben a 'now' song after so many older ones he's had. Most of the others have had newer songs. Also glad it gave him a chance to move around and show what he can do, after being given mostly slow songs. He got out there and gave it everything and performed so well!
Thought Joe was really good - she looked the part and sung the words with feeling. The other best one of the night!
Missed having a Group song. Really glad there was no immunity - thought has someone been reading Idolblog or Throng.
Then came the results!
Shock to see Ben there with Emily! Something very wrong with that! Both sung their own choice songs really well. Both proving their ability. But still can't understand how, when Emily has been in the bottom 2 or 3 just about every week, and in the judges bottom group each week - how they can send Ben home and keep Emily!
The only thing I can think of is that people were sure Ben was safe, but after pointing out those that could be in trouble, people got to give those people extra votes to save them.
The judges made a big mistake with this choice!
Yes, Emily is a really good singer, but her positions must tell the judges something about the general feelings of the country. Wonder if they thought about it and realised afterwards. Too late though!
BEN was without doubt the BEST performer of the night last night!!! Why oh why are the NZ public, not to mention the judges, so down on him all the time??!!!

His perfomrance last night was by far my favourite.
Maybe is my fav NZ song.
He did so well.
Damn those judges.
