Rosita went Sad

I had already guessed, after their comments on Nik's delivery, that it would be Rosita. Sad

I thought, though, that Idol was a show that showcased their talents with ALL the genres, Rock, Pop, Ballads the lot, and since Rosita won Idol that means she has to have impressed the Judges on THAT show with her ability to sing Pop so why send her packing on Pop's Ultimate Star, although, when I think about it, she DIDN'T hit her stride on the night and Nik 'pulled the rabbit out of the hat'.

What a bummer though. I was just gutted, having met the lady and she AND Nik were (are) lovely people. Smiling

I'm still terrified that Ben Lummis may have 'put his head on the chopping block' though, given that if he doesn't win it, then what, for him and his career.

Let's face it he's the only one (through no fault of his own I might add) that was dropped from his record label. He's certainly got guts though I'll give him that!

I'm praying hard out for him though and you can bet his Church will be. He's obviously got one ton of faith in his God too.

By the way I think, personally, that it is lovely to see Camillia wearing her faith out on her sleeve in thanking the Lord in the way that she does. Smiling

It's a free country you know, so we shouldn't slam those who do that.

I still say contestants who front up on shows of this type deserve a standing ovation. I'm still feeling just as nervous, on elimination night, as when the Idol shows were on.

BIMI 15 June, 2007 - 9:37am

Let's face it he's the only one (through no fault of his own I might add) that was dropped from his record label. He's certainly got guts though I'll give him that!

For the last time, he WASN'T dropped ... he decided that he didn't want to re-sign with them when his contract expired after the year. Why do people keep saying that he was dropped?! Sad

firefox 15 June, 2007 - 8:07pm

Is Rosita not signed with them anymore either then, as last I heard she still was, but Michael Murphy, I knew, had gone when Five Star Fallout started up?

And it has NEVER been me that started the 'Ben dropped' business anyway, in fact it's news to me what you have said above, he just didn't sign a new contract! How come there is a choice of signing a new contract with them anyway, when the contract was only for ONE single and album for the winner, the first 2 years of Idol? THAT doesn't make sense either. Also why didn't Ben just say "I didn't renew my contract", when interviewed by the Woman's Weekly for their article that came out just after he left Sony BMG? In said article it said that Ben 'didn't say much', or words to that effect, when asked about the 'split' as they put it, with Sony BMG.

I think Ben's a great singer and it's none of anyone's business to ask about it anyway. I vote hard out for him every week and hope he takes it out. Smiling

Loyal 18 June, 2007 - 3:49pm

I know it wasn't you that went on about Ben being dropped. It was being said like that all over the radio, etc.
You're right, there wasn't actually a choice for Ben to sign a new contract. It ended and it suited Ben and BMG. Ben was tied to to it and wanted it to end so he could get out and be free to do his own thing. He was under contract, so couldn't do anything else, and BMG weren't doing anything with him either.
And no, he didn't say much, because probably wasn't something he was free to talk about - and was likely told not to. He's not one to talk about things anyway, and put people down or anyone he's had problems with. Always says goods things on the radio, etc. when talking about anything that's happened. Never put anyone down. Just is thankful for what's chances he's had.

So it wasn't that he was dropped so much as that the contract ended, that was for the best as far as Ben was concerned, and neither wanted to re-new it anyway!

BIMI 15 June, 2007 - 11:09pm

Sorry firefox, I wasn't actually aiming that last comment at you personally ... I guess I'm just sick of people constantly going on about how Ben was dropped from his label, when he wasn't! And the reason why the WW article would've made it sound worse than it was, is purely (in my opinion anyway) because journos always like to sensationalise things, and make everything ten times worse or more strange or bizarre than what they actually are! It's what sells the magazines and papers, sadly.

firefox 17 June, 2007 - 9:54pm

Whew thanks for that Smiling

And you are right about journos sensationalising things, look at that paper that said about Ben's little Brother and the Christmas story, for a start Sad

Hey, were you there tonight live because I was just wrapping up tidying up the kitchen from doing the dishes as it (Pop's Ultimate Star) came back on, with the Judges giving their take of the bottom four and the TOP four, and one even said that they (bottom four) were 'in harmony' and I couldn't help myself but I snorted and said bollocks (had my hearing aids in as I always do for TV, or when people are here, or I'm at work) and TO ME ANYWAY they sort of 'clashed' whereas the top four sounded more pure, but how did you find it if you were there live?

I'm loving the letter 'l' carved into Ben's hair, what's your bet Sela was instrumental in that Eye-wink

Wondering, too, if she's been doing some fine tuning with Ben's performances going by the shot of her with him tonight!

They both rock and if Ben is still in for the finale (I SO hope he is - I got the texting votes up to 12 tonight) then I'm seriously thinking about flying up to wherever so maybe I will get to meet them both AND, hopefully, you too. Smiling Eye-wink

Bottom four were given the worst way/ style of doing that Aint No Mountain high enuff performance. Theres no way that even the top four wouldve gotten that way right also. All Contestants are given songs and told to sing them, also Group songs and choreographed etc on how to dance, sing the whole performance. Bottom four were "doomed to fail" from the start with being told to do the performance that way/ style. Whoever gave out 'what Group does it what way'should be shot.

Loyal 18 June, 2007 - 3:55pm
www.daughtryofficial.com

Oh, I thought they were given a song and it was up to them to put together a performance.

Anyway, the top 4 much better. Voices blended well and all did their part good and they fitted in together. Sounded good.
The bottom 4 often seemed not quite with the music and Camellia seemed to dominate the bottom 4. Like she wanted to be the star of it and made sure she stood out.

BIMI 18 June, 2007 - 4:45pm

Oh, I thought they were given a song and it was up to them to put together a performance.

That was the case for the group songs this week. And they were only given the song on Sunday afternoon too! Definitely the "top" four's performance was the more pleasurable to watch ... and no, that wasn't just cause I was staring at Ben the whole time too! LOL It just seemed smoother, and more in tune, and more harmoneous! Smiling

hi, thanks for putting me right BIMI was great the top 4 for putting on a great performance. Whoever made up the choreograph for bottom 4 should still be shot! lol, was actually the bottom 4 or who put that dance together or a person bought in to help them do that stupid dance routine thing, im so suspicious about that.

BIMI 18 June, 2007 - 6:09pm

I think the idea is for them to do it ALL themselves!

chevy 18 June, 2007 - 8:21pm
AsiaPacific

haha i still dont believe it Smiling
to even do a standard Show on Sunday night they have to rehearse the whole thing using choreographers to help them right through it step by step, maybe even take days+ hours to learn. The performance on Sun could'nt of come from themselves to make that big stuff up, then the other Group to do a outstanding performance, both Groups would be all a mess.

BIMI 19 June, 2007 - 1:32pm

Well, if you don't believe me ...

Seriously, that is the whole point of those "surprise" items each week - to see if they CAN pull something together without input from the judges ... not that their input is really very useful most weeks anyway LOL
Don't forget, most of the judges don't just "judge" them on Sundays - they work with them through the week on their performances.

BIMI 17 June, 2007 - 11:32pm

Actually, Ben has "Lummis" shaved into his head at the moment Eye-wink

Loyal 18 June, 2007 - 3:57pm
www.daughtryofficial.com

I never realised that! Will have to look closely at the video!

Wondering if Sela is doing it for him, I remember she used to!

firefox 17 June, 2007 - 11:40pm

Mah bad I could only see the 'L' from the lounge here. I'm guessing you saw more lettering on his head with another hug and kiss from him tonight, would I be right Eye-wink

BIMI 18 June, 2007 - 9:01am

Actually I didn't Sad It so sucks not being able to talk to him after the show Sad

firefox 18 June, 2007 - 8:22pm

Hope we do get to meet someday, you seem a real cool sort. Smiling

Loyal 15 June, 2007 - 1:04pm

You're right, he wasn't dropped, as so many loved to say at the time. The contract ended and it was decided not to renew it. Ben was restricted by it and was happy for it to have ended.
The contract was only for a single and album after all. BMG never supported and kept on any of the Idols!
Out of all those who did get contract as their prize - none would still be with BMG! Wouldn't it just have been 3 of them I'm thinking anyway!

BIMI 15 June, 2007 - 1:15pm

Does anybody know what Matt's contract was for ... cause we seem to have heard an awful lot LESS of him than either Ben OR Rosita! Sad

Davey Havok with a k is a beautiful, beautiful man

It was said at the end of Idol, or even before it ended, that the contract was only for a single.

BIMI 15 June, 2007 - 3:16pm

Oh, ok, thanks for that ...

Why did I think he'd get an album out of it too?!

I guess that's what he was supposed to do with the money, eh ...

Loyal 18 June, 2007 - 3:59pm

In a way I'm glad Matt won what he did. Well, just the recording side of the prize, cos it means I didn't have to see him plastered all over TV - if the label had done their job properly. Sticking out tongue

MoreFM thrash his hold out single all the time. ode to have no repeat workdays but MoreFM are just as stupid as The Edge for playing same song "every 5minutes" LOL

its great. its just that with Radio Stations thrashing it every 2hours.... its starting to get abit much.

I know exactly what you mean chevy. When More first played it I quite liked it. But yes, after hearing it over and over again, am sick of it. It proves how you can certainly have too much of something.

I still wonder why, after so much time that More decided to keep playing it - and made it one of their 5 most played songs for a few weeks lately!

YOU ARE A syphillis SO PISS OFF

Rosita was bad enough that Nik could have sung a Wiggles song and gotton through

Loyal 15 June, 2007 - 1:06pm
www.daughtryofficial.com

I have to go along with that! Knew that Nik would have to be really bad to not go through after Rosita sung - and the judges said they were judging on that song alone!

Loyal 14 June, 2007 - 12:00pm
www.daughtryofficial.com

Gutted! Can't believe Rosita has gone so soon!Sad What is happening with this already, when one of the very best is the second one to go!Sad
Rosita my second favourite. Always loved her, her singing's awesome and she's a lovely person who always makes me smile! Feel so sorry for her.

But her final. choice of song wasn't good. Nothing to it or her performance - unfortunately. It was a nothing song that just didn't give her a chance to show the quality of her voice, and her personality was missing, like she'd given up already! The worse performance I've ever seen from her.

On the other hand, Nik actually pulled out a good one - and was the best I've ever seen him perform! Instead of bopping around like he usually does, waving his arms around, he actually stood still and sung a song with feeling. Something I often wanted to see him do on Idol! Paid off for him. By then it was pretty obvious who would be going. Especially as it was said that the judging would be only on that night's performance.

Will miss Rosita though, she certainly brought something extra to the programme!

BIMI 14 June, 2007 - 12:54pm

I kind of expected the judges to be wanting to keep Nik, to be honest ... after all, they do think he's more of a 'pop' singer than Rosita is. And I don't think Rosita really did herself any favours with the song she chose to sing last night, either - Nik's choice was brilliant! Of course, it helps that I like Brooke's music anyway Eye-wink

CriticalGal 13 June, 2007 - 9:29pm

Yep, don't think that Nik sung himself in so much as Rosita sung herself out. I kept waiting for the big notes, the 'wow' factor where she'd kick it out the park and she didn't. It was a terrible choice and totally lacked any spark whatsoever - this time the judges had it right. Based on those two performances it would've looked ridiculous to keep Rosie - would make the whole Wed. night show a sham. For all money Nik was gone tonight and if she'd sung even half as good as she's capable he might have been, given how much they love her. They had no choice. Ah well ... Go Emily! Go Ben! Go Nik!

Loyal 14 June, 2007 - 12:05pm
www.daughtryofficial.com

Yep, Rosita certainly has it in her to have beaten Nik - if as you say, she'd only given what we know she's capable of - with some spark!
It was obvious, based on those 2 performances, who would have to go.!Sad

Joe is match-making for Steve on The edge!Smiling She thinks he's a really nice guy who needs a nice girl, and is asking for offers through the radio station. She said she will be very selective - also laughingly added later that she thinks she's going to be in trouble for this!Smiling

Last week she said she thought the judges didn't like her because they never had her as a highlight at the end - well this week she was a highlight!Smiling Good on you Joe!Smiling

Love her humour and how she's having fun - even if it gives her a lot of worry too, getting the songs right!Eye-wink

Right now Joe's talking on the Edge about the show. Saying she often pops in to read what's being said on Throng, and some of the things that are being said, etc.!Smiling

scuon 12 June, 2007 - 12:49am

this show could be better if things were done differently
Firstly the band is always too loud and so are the backup singers. they are suppose to be quieter than the actual singers hence the BACKUP singer title.
With Matts song it was done way 2 fast and the note seemed 2 high. im sure anyone who sang that song on the night would have had trouble.
As for Nik and Rosita in the bottom 2, THAT IS ABSOLUTE CRAP. The judges could at least pick a gud songs for the singers. Come on who seriously likes "Bad Day"??? I hate that song with a passion!!
How the hell is David still in there. Last week when he lay on the stage I had 2 change the channel before I threw the remote at him. Im glad Emily is up there now. she is another one who gets crap songs that dont really show wat she can do.
Joe is really growing on me. I love listening to her sing but i just cant watch her. Some may like her stage acting or wateva u call it but i find it offputting, which makes me close my eyes when i listen to her. Really getting sick of Camillias Praying to god saying thank you crap. She is so over the top its annoying. I wonder if she wulda bin in the bottom 2 had she not got immunity.

So ending this novel i have just written, I would love to see this show improve. get the band not so loud, the judges pick better songs or at least do it lyk rock star and have a selection of songs. Hopefully Rosita goes home on wednesday. Not that i dont like her just i like Nik better and I think he deserves to go further.
