General: Great Final - Deserving winner in Joe!

Submitted by Loyal on 23 July, 2007 - 10:31am.

I was soo lucky to be able to have tickets to the final. Not many people in the 'public' waiting area to go in. Most were going through as 'friends'. When we were let in most of studio was full, with just back rows empty. That was OK, best views in those seats anyway!
Really good to be there. Fantastic atmosphere from start to finish. The only not so good part of the show was Matt's singing in Vertago! But it was great music to start and to get the whole thing going - and everyone was certainly rocking with the music!
Apart from Matt, Nik and Joe proved to be worthy of being in this final. Both gave awesome performances and on their performances on the night, it would be close. Though Joe still stood out for me, loved everything she did. She was certainly in fine form - the best!Smiling
Interesting that the selection this time was done on votes alone! That should have been announced last week! The winner really was the choice of the viewers - and had been right through the contest!
Highlight of the night had to be the threesome between Joe, Ben and Kerry. That had to be the best group song of the series. Loved it, well done and very funny!Smiling
Nik was his best when he sung 'Angels' an excellent song choice! Wondered how Joe could match that - but she did. For the first time this season, got goose-bumps listening to her - was entranced!

At the end, Joe proved she is the 'Ultimate Pop Star' A very worthy winner. She improved so much as the season went on, but was always very versatile and never had a bad week. She has the voice, ability to perform, personality and likability! She also looked beautiful!
Went home very happy!Smiling

And thank you so so much too Joe for actualy taking the time to thank me!Smiling

Thanks you so very much too - for saying on air that Ben is one of the best singers around!Smiling We know that - but so good to hear someone in your position actually tell everyone round the country on air!Smiling

Forgot to add - during the part where the judges were talking about Matt and one of them commented on his usual good voice, everyone was quiet and listening to them and at the good voice part, my hubby laughed out loud - and I glared at him and he quickly turned it into a cough and I told him he's not at home now!Laughing out loud

BIMI 23 July, 2007 - 3:56pm

Tell hubby he's not alone Eye-wink I laughed out loud when Matt forgot the words too! Ok, I know it's mean of me but I couldn't help myself - it was almost like he was proving to everyone once again that he hadn't really put the effort or work in and didn't really deserve to be taking someone else's place in the final Sad

ahh yes that reminded me when Ben forgot the words to that 'easy' Sting song I never laughed my ass off so much in my entire life Smiling

BIMI 24 July, 2007 - 10:56am

Ah yes, but the difference is, my dear Chevy, is that you couldn't actually TELL that Ben had missed a couple of words ... he was able to move on smoothly and not let the audience know! What's with the hitting yourself on the side of the head during a performance?! I'm darn sure it's something someone like Bono would never do, and you can be sure even HE'S missed out the odd lyric in his career Eye-wink

lol your totally right there, Matt made a fatal mistake by doing that head thing. But with a high lyrics song like Vertigo no one couldve got it right unless you practised it over 2months. Ive looked at the lyrics and meh! Matts not Bono and not an international superstar like U2. Vertigo is the most dogs ass song those low quality Judges couldve given someone to learn within x_amount of days.
The Sting song came out when i was a young and i spotted it straight away but didnt think much/ anything of Ben missing the words. He did the right thing by kept on going without making it obvious

I remember reading comments about that performance by Ben, and the fact that no-one had actually noticed until one of the judges mentioned it!

Perhaps his recreational habits are finally getting to his brain. But at least sense did previal in the end - Matt was GONE and Jo, who is a very talented lady, WON. Sorry for Nik - he did so much better as the show went all.

I thought this was a thread congratulating Joe?
er what recreational habits are these ur talking about couzz. you know im gonna come asking questions and ask for proof when i see that right?
Joe was given everything on a silver platter! the best songs that even Camillia or Emily didnt get! she was shown favourtism by the judges as well with Matt and Nik too by having his ass saved too many times by the Judges from elimination. BIMI was right the show will lose ratings real badly now Smiling

Right there chevy - the rating will go right down now - I just know it! No-one will watch this show next week!

Ive been looking over at frong and noticed alot of people have voiced their dissapproval with the way PUS has been run. Also anger with Judges and the way tyhey eliminate people and song chioces they hand out to Contestants. The NZ Idols had it way better over this format and surprised anyone will be watching PUS Season-2 going by the way practically everyone thought it is crap and ran badly. Ive also seen you write some scaving reviews about the way its ran and Judges decisions to Loyal Smiling

That's right chevy - I have! You already knew that!

Still enjoyed the final though, good atmosphere, good performances and the winner picked by the public!

Though the public should have been told the week before how the winner was going to be picked!

My highlight for the evening too, Loyal Eye-wink as well as Graeme's comment to Ben following it LMAO

That's right, forgot about that!Smiling Can't wait to watch it all again on video and replay some things!Eye-wink Ben proved again how very good he is - both with singing and performing!Smiling

Wondered too, what Peter was saying to Ben at the end when they were all singing behind Joe and he went up to Ben at the back and put his arm round him and seemed to be saying something. Don't know if you saw that.

BIMI 23 July, 2007 - 3:54pm

We hardly got ANY of the final "sing out" by Joe at the end cause we went to the end credits almost straight away, I think cause it was past 8.30 Sad so I missed that, and it won't even be on my recording Sad

Might have to ask him next time I'm chatting to him Eye-wink

Maybe it was something like 'Sorry Ben, you should have been there in this final, we got it very wrong!.'.Eye-wink

Well next time you chat to him you'll have to let us know if he tells you!Eye-wink
