Not been here for so ages because it's been sooooo slow to connect to anything and I've been running out of patience! So now I've just got a new CD from a friend in Arizona of all the Chris Daughtry songs from Idol. Loving it, so listening over and over while I just wait here to connect!
So here goes - making the most of being here to catch up!
Just taken 20 mins for me to get into the site and make one comment and now to get here!
First of all, did see Ben & Sela on Xmas in the Park. Was so looking forward to finally hearing Ben sing my favourite carol. Then had hubby talked all the way through it!
What language is that? Where's he come from then? Who's that? Is that his girlfriend? Was she on Idol? etc. etc.! I said to please shut up because I wanted to listen, then he finally shut up when they'd finished!
I wasn't impressed! I now would so love to see it all again - in silence, so I can listen properly!
Alaina - you finally got to see him 'live'!!!!!!!!
Anyway my 8 yr old grandson has asked me if I can give him a copy of 'They can't take that away' because it's one of his favourite songs. They sing it all the time at school! So guess Ben would be pleased to know that - that it's being sung at a school by all the children still!
Is his favourite song along with 'Home' by Daughtry and "Hey there Delilah'. Good taste in music he has. No influence at all either!
While I'm here, in case I don't get back for a while, I wish every one of you here a lovely xmas and 2008! Been lovely staying around with you all year again. Hope it can continue!

Loyal, your post made me giggle, imagining you trying to watch and listen to Ben singing, with your husband asking questions the whole way through *covers mouth to stop giggles* I definitely hope, as Alaina says below, that it is repeated on TV on Christmas Eve, cause it's so worth hearing!
Hope you guys have a fantastic Christmas, too, and an even better 2008 ... and hopefully Ben's album is out in March, as I read somewhere recently to reward us all for our patience!

Did anybody happen to watch the highlights from Christmas in the Park on TV3 on Sunday night?!! I have to say I felt immensely proud of both Ben AND Sela with their beautiful rendition of "Silent Night." It was fabulous, and I sooooo wish I'd seen the song in its entirety instead of TV3 flicking halfway through to the Christchurch version

Ooh I could see him live for the first time! lol I wish Steve was in Auckland too. Gosh. I've only ever been to one of these things, for the Idolblog meetup a couple of years ago. I'll see if I can get someone to go along with me.

In past years, this event has been screened on TV3, usually ... about a week after it actually happens, I think, so I'll be looking at the TV guide for December with great interest, you can be sure

Funny, the front page here says about Ben's new single due out in November. Now here we are, a year later, waiting again for a single due out in November!
Wonder how the sales went for the last one. Do hope that the next one gets better exposure, air-play, availability in the shops, etc.! Certainly needs those things to make it succeed!

Was talking to someone in the US on daughtyofficial about Ben and this is part of the reply I've just got:
I checked out the Ben site you gave me and that was fun. I even tried to buy some of his music on i-Tunes here, but nothing was available. I actually do like R&B! So any new updates on where he's at? The music industry is so harsh. Real talent can find an audience though, even if it's not on a massive scale.

Really good to hear about a fan of Ben's on Throng, and that the mum has written to Ben on Bebo and told him all about her 5-year-old son who has been a fan since Idol - and that he got replied and they may get a visit from Ben!
