General: Concerts anyone?

Submitted by Loyal on 18 October, 2007 - 11:44am.

Anyone been to any concerts lately - or planning to go to any - or wishing they could?

There's been a lot of overseas entertainers coming here lately - and planned in the future!

Bon Jovi going to Christchurch next year! Now love to go to that one!

Daughtry just been to Australia and said they may be back in Jan! Now that's another one I'd like to get to!

Those are my 2 'wishing I could'.

What's the craic?!

I forgot to say ... Westlife at Croke Park in Dublin was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

I can't actually put it any more into words than that LOL The whole experience - being in Dublin, walking through the streets and thinking to myself, I'm actually in Ireland right now, walking to the Stadium with the thousands of other fans, having to sit through tedious *ahem* I mean, delightful support acts Eye-wink and then the final moment when the boys hit the stage - will stay with me forever!!! I'm never, ever going to forget those two weeks ... or even the three days in Westlife country ... for the rest of my life!!!
I definitely can't wait for the DVD to come out at the end of the year (Yes, there were video cameras there and the lads said at one point they were filming, and there were also signs that said they were filming as well!) and it's just going to be like reliving the moment all over again, seeing it on the screen!
Every Westlife fan in New Zealand NEEDS to get this DVD - it was a phenomenal night, and the lads did NOT disappoint in any respect!!!!! Laughing out loud

I was really hoping you'd get a chance to meet the guys, guess you didn't or you'd have said!

But look forward to that video. Will definately get a copy!!!

Hi BIMI - all back here again.Smiling Yeh, reckon we would have!

Shame you didn't go to New Plymouth - people went out to the airport and got close up as they arrived and left!!!!
(Though not me as I was with a hubby who had no intention of driving out to the airport)

BIMI 16 July, 2008 - 12:10pm
What's the craic?!

Believe me, if I'd had spare annual leave, I WOULD have gone to the New Plymouth concert as well! I was quite gutted that I couldn't, cause that would've actually been quite a good venue to be at.

Finally got to a concert- Westlife! And LOVED it!Smiling

Reckon none of the other acts that have come here could have matched the show they put on! But keen to go to more concerts now anyway!

Just hope that the success of ticket sales in Wellington for Westlife will mean more acts will come down to this part of the country - instead of all going to Auckland - and ChCh for Bon Jovi!

Yeh Alaina - love to see Nickelback - at Wellington!!!!!!

What's the craic?!

Is anyone going to go and see Elton when he's in Auckland on 14 May this year?!! Incidentally, 2 days after Westlife perform their second show in Auckland Eye-wink Heh heh I wonder how Elton's ticket sales go in comparison ...

Blah on Toast 13 April, 2008 - 10:07am

Yeah I wonder if it will affect sales cos some people will/will not go because Westlife's was so close..hmm. I dont think it will though XD The fact theyve left it so close to the show to begin selling shows the confidence they have in selling them all, and quickly. Id totally go to both XD

Was thinking 'oh no, missed out' when I heard Wellington was all sold out for Westlife - in 3 hours! Didn't think they'd go that quick!
One of the few concerts I actually planned to go to!
One of the few acts to come to Wellington!

But got tickets for New Plymouth.Smiling

That'll teach me in future - if I want somthing, go for it asap!

Really hope it mean that in future though, it will be seen it is worth big acts going to Wellington - and more will!

Yay! So glad you're going to the New Plymouth show, Loyal - it's going to be sooooo fabulous!!!! I'd go to that one myself ... if it wasn't on a Tuesday night, and I don't have any more annual leave to take to get there Sad

So already this year I have lined up:

March 26: Duran Duran
March 31: HIM
April 30: James Blunt (still to get a ticket)
May 10: Westlife (still to get a ticket)
May 14: Avenged Sevenfold (still to get a ticket)

I hope you win that competition Loyal. Good luck! Smiling

Lucky you Alaina and everyone else who lives in Auckland - with so many going there to perform, and no-where else!Sad
That's why I'm extra excited about Westlife being in Wellington. Funny, how ever many other singers and music I've liked and how it changes, I've always liked what Westlife does. Don't know the individuals like BIMI, just like their singing.
Know James Blunt is at Wellington too - but will give him a miss! Not for me!

See One Republic will be there in Auckland too - with Maroon 5. Would definately see One Republic if they were coming to Wellington! Not so bothered about Maroon 5. Adam Levine one of those singers I would rather listen to than watch.

As for that contest - well I just better win it! Already someone from Australia has planned to fly there from Australia to go to the concert with me! Others driving up from Arizona - and someone even said she'll get a ticket to fly out from Germany to meet up all together!
Well we can dream can't we.Eye-wink Know it's most unlikely to happen - but better chance than winning the big lotto prize to get there.Eye-wink

BIMI - don't know if you look in here still - but heard about Westlife coming to NZ on the radio this morning!Smiling And to Wellington:) Just thought of you instantly!

Now that's one concert I will be able to get to - being in Wellington, and will make sure of. Hubby will want to go too I'm sure, as he likes Westlife - one of his favourites!Smiling

Can imagine how excited you are right now.Smiling So will you travel the country with them?

By the way, I've entered the More competion to go to see Bon Jovi and Daughtry together in their concert in LA. Imagine winning that! Be a dream come true!!!!!!
Well, more chance than winning that I guess, than winning the big lotto prize to go!

BIMI 22 February, 2008 - 8:34am
What's the craic?!

Heh heh - funny the amount of people who thought of me immediately they heard that news! Eye-wink I wonder why ...

*giggles*

I'm still getting my head around it, in fact. I probably won't fully believe it till I have my ticket in my hands! Honestly, never in my wildest dreams would I ever have believed that we'd manage to get Westlife to come to New Zealand, let alone Wellington! This is going to be huge!

And just as an aside, I don't honestly think the NZ public recognise how HUGE this is ... these guys are massively popular, and it's pretty impressive that they're making such an effort to come here for FOUR shows! Noting also that Australia even seems to be missing out this year ... there's just not the time between their month off in April and when they have to be back in the UK for concerts at the end of May! I kind of feel sorry for our Aussie fan friends, but hey! If I could make the effort (and monetary sacrifice!) to go THERE last year, why can't they return the favour and come here and celebrate with us?!

Loyal 26 February, 2008 - 10:19am
www.daughtryofficial.com

Tis quite something! Especially doing 4 shows! Good on them for thinking of their Kiwi fans!Smiling Also for travelling round the country, not just doing extra concerts in Auckland!

And even giving Australia a miss for us! The must have been reading about what devoted fans they have here in NZ BIMI.Eye-wink

So BIMI - are you still planning to go to Ireland to see them?

Did you see them on Close up last night?

BIMI 26 February, 2008 - 3:38pm
What's the craic?!

Definitely still going to see them in Dublin!!! Am actually thinking of making a banner for Wellington, something like "thanks for coming - see you at Croke Park!" Anyone have any further suggestions for witty and clever things to bannerise?!

Recorded AND watched Close Up last night Smiling

zed 26 February, 2008 - 6:28pm

im just taking a stab in the dark here, but if there is more than one of yous going to the concert and u like too do something goofy ,well u can have some neon caps, a neon letter at the back of your cap so everyone no matter where they r sitting can c this neon light, each cap spelling the name of the band u r seenin, now a group of yous each with a letter and from the back would be seen from quite a distance at nite, the trick is maintaing enough battery life to last till the end of the concert., and when a particular song comes on,thats your que, switch on goofy,.............gosh i think u be on tv even if it was just for a moment........................so make sure thoes caps are workin b4 you line up cause if one or even two lights fail it could spell.............. we.t li.e..............oh well catch u bright sparks another time...............dj

Now that I'd really LOVE to go to!
My absolute favourites- well Rob with them or on his own, before Chris Daughty came along! Love all their music!

Now a real dilemma! Was saving to see Daughtry at some time. Do I use money towards that for MB20?
Who would go with me anyway?

So hoping I can win tickets on More!

So want to see them!

Just found about Maroon 5 too! What a week in Auckland that would be!
But why all in Auckland - or ChCh.Sad Why can't they come to Wellington.Puzzled
Can't afford to go, just accepting it.
Wellington would be a different matter, would seriously think about it then.
Someone has offered to go with me and accommodation for Bon Jovi, but still cost of getting there and ticket!

If you arent 100% sure Daughtry are coming Id say go to matchbox 20! Cos it sounds like you really like them AND if Daughtry end up coming Im sure youd be able to replace the funds used for MB20 Smiling hehe thats what Id do anyway!

Thing is, even if Daughtry don't come here, seriously thinking about going overseas to see them - and meeting up with a lot of other fans at the same time I've got to know! Love to be able to do that.

Would definately go if MB20 were in Wellington though! Not so many added expenses then - and distance to drive!

Just keep hoping More FM draw my name out in their MB20 competition, then I'd have to make use of the tickets.Eye-wink
